Upgraded from Creative Fatal1ty Headset
Actually got this headset free from a Steelseries Rep, was previously using the Creative Fatal1ty headset with the Creative Fatal1ty Xtreme Gamer Soundcard.

The positional audio on this headset is so much better, i often found it difficult to pinpoint where somebody was on COD4 but with this it is much easier to know the direction from which someone approaches. This headset is far superior and i even notice a difference in Ventrillo.

I was considering Razer after using a friends Razer Barracuda at an I-Series Lan, and although i haven't experienced the Razer for a prolonged period i found that it had better positional audio, but the overall sound quality is better in the Steelseries as the Razer sounded too hollow whereas the bass is nicer with the steelseries.

A fantastic headset at a fantastic price.
This was the first time I'd tried SteelSeries (Razer fan-boy), and needless to say, I am not disappointed.

On first impressions, the headset looks a little cheap, but it more than makes up for it in it's performance in-game. Footsteps in CS become incredibly clear, and enemies are easy to hear even from a mile off. Each and every sound is crisp and clear, even sounds I'd never heard shone through with the 5H. The bass is still impressive even though the treble is exaggerated with the 5H.
However, this headset is made for gaming not music, so when listening to music it just doesn't sound as good as say, some Sennheiser's. It's still great to listen to music with these, but it doesn't match up with the more expensive headsets. If you've got the money, or if you're an audiophile, it may be worth buying the new Sennheiser PC 350 or the Astro A40's as both would be better than the 5H's for music.

The mic is another potential selling point of the headset. All too often a headset is let down by a frankly awful mic, but not these. On Vent & Steam voice calls, your voice is picked up easily with no background noise at all. It is also retractable, so if you just want it out of your way while you're listening to music then it's easily done, as it fits snugly into it's hole in the left 'phone.

As the name suggests, this is the v2 of the 5H which means that SteelSeries have made a variety of improvements including braided cords which are very durable, and added padding on the cups.

The cups are also top-quality with masses of soft, velvety padding which rest around your ears, not on top of them, thus not giving you painful ear syndrome after a couple of hours on CS or Call Of Duty. You can put these on and come out 56 hours later and still have fresh ears.

I went to a LAN party last weekend with these badboys, and compared them with the Medusa 5.1's. As I expected, the 5h's won on every aspect. Even though the Medusa's are 5.1, the SteelSeries are still better for in-game use as the speakers are of a much higher quality.

Even the packaging is impressive, with the headset hoisted onto a luxury silver stand and the cables all neatly wrapped up. The 5H comes with an extension lead so if you're like me and you're pc is under the desk, then you're catered for. Please bear in mind that this is NOT the USB version, so you do not get the USB sound card, although I do not believe this headset needs it, it's just so good.

As usual with Amazon, they delivered before their estimate, which was a bonus.

Great headset
This headset it just amazing. I had the creative fatality and speedlink medusa headsets before i purchased this and this blows both of them away for sound quality and comfortability. Definitely recommended as the best headset in this price range.
