Customer Reviews
First one died and so did the replacement!
I had my first 16Gb Zen for three weeks before it died completely. Picked up the replacement today and that too is dead........not exactly impressed. Ok so the player had decent sound quality and the videos looked nice but reliability is a definite factor. This one is going back and I shall be choosing a different brand.
Here comes the Ipod destroyer
I bought this Zen player just over a month ago and so far have only had to charge it twice. Once when i took it out of the box and once since then. This MP3 is a brilliant piece of kit with a brilliant battery life.
I have had an Ipod nano and an Ipod video and also an Iriver and a sony and now the Zen. I have to say for value for money nothing comes close to the Zen. The only downside to the Zen was that they knocked the price down just after I got it.
It is small, thin fits right in your pocket and looks great. Now to the main bit, the sound quality and video quality on the zen is the same as any ipod, (better maybe for sound quality). It is so much easier to handle and put music onto the Zen as you do not even need the installation CD. You can take it out of the box and plug it in to the USB port and use "drag and drop" to just drag music on, take it away and it will play perfectly.
You can also use the same method for files, photos, videos and just as a general memory stick, I even use my Zen if i need anything from my work PC home which is too big to email. I just hook it up and drag and drop it on.
It literally is the perfect MP3 player, 5 stars all the way and excellent!
Colour Me Unimpressed
Have just recieved my new zen this weekend and am writing this within 2 days of reciept. You can colour me unimpressed! I have always preferred Creative to Ipod due to the range of digital audio it will play and the simplicity of use. I decided to get this model as I had filled my zen Micro 8 gig to capacity and wanted more space - I knew I would be happy with the next zen as the micro had given me no problems previously.
Sadly the moment I opened the box I knew I was in for a disappointment. THERE IS NO CHARGER WITH THIS ZEN! And further more it is a sealed unit - no longer can you replace the battery when it ceases to charge.
The charging / download lead is three inches long. Even with my relatively up to date pc it dangles from the front of the cpu like a key fob. The screen is adequate - but I would not play a music video on it. The menus are cumbersome and complete unintuitive.
Unlike most gadgets these days this zen is not "plug and play" having installed the software you are expected to restart before you can use the software. Additionally when I hooked up both my zens to transfer data between them - you can't! This zen firmly refused to acknowlede that it was connected! I had to drop 8 gig to my desktop and then copy it onto this zen - a process that took half an hour to complete!
Creative seem have cast aside their previously good standards and have decended to pandering to a teenage throwaway market.
CREATIVE YOU CAN DO BETTER.
