DVD Description
On the Al Murray: The Pub Landlord - Live At The Palladium DVD, the award winning comedian raises the roof at the majestic London Palladium, where he gave a crowning performance of his hit tour show "And Another Thing" in 2007. In this show, Britain's favourite Pub Landlord holds court with his distinctive common sense, reasoning on subjects such as "The War on Terror", "Hell", "Life Itself", and his personal crusade to "Bring Back Shame". Expect "unstoppable comedy from the joke-telling machine gun" (The Sunday Times), who showcases his trademark rapid-fire interaction with the regulars. Having already become famed by the success of his prime-time entertainment show "Happy Hour", and an unprecedented second "An Audience with Al Murray: The Pub Landlord", the Guv'nor shines in top form on this DVD.
Synopsis
In Al Murray: The Pub Landlord - Live At The Palladium, Al performs his unique and hilarious brand of comedy at the London Palladium, where he performed his sell-out live show 'And Another Thing' in 2007.
Customer Reviews
Dedicated fans only
Fans of Al Murray in his fast, tight, 'up close and personal' TV shows may find this a little slow. The Paladium's huge stage seems to hinder his interaction with the audience, and some of the material is slightly laboured. There is still plenty to laugh at, but this is a different ball game to Happy Hour.
Slow, unfunny and recycled.
I really like Al Murray and I was pleased when I was bought this for christmas, however, this is Al's weakest showing yet.
It seems to drag on with no especially funny parts. The start is slow and Al doesn't seem to find his stride until half way through. Even when he does, it is recycled material from the past few years. There seems to be very little new stuff, and that appears too late to save this show. By that time, I had lost interest and was feeling disappointed and a little annoyed that one of my presents had been such a bust.
The only reason that I'm giving this 3 stars (instead of 2) is the price. Straight after christmas and it's down to £5? That shows you the calibre of this performace.
It's a shame, but I would avoid this DVD. If Al Murray gets paid for being lacklustre, he might fall into a habit, and no-one wants to see that.
Hilarious British Comedy
This show was hilarious - i have all of Al Murreys work and i think this is brilliant and his best so far. The comedy is fast and furious and the jokes (sometimes crude) are great and intelligent. Top knoch comedy from the great publican comedian.
