Synopsis
Features the popular film trilogy BACK TO THE FUTURE, BACK TO THE FUTURE - PART 2 and BACK TO THE FUTURE – PART 3. The first adventure sees a Californian teenager become the innocent victim of a local crackpot's invention - a time machine made from a DeLorean car. He finds himself in his hometown thirty years back, where he is destined for some funny surprises and a bag of embarrassment. In BACK TO THE FUTURE – PART 2, Marty and the Doc take a trip to the year 2015 to resolve a few problems with the future McFly family. When they return home, they discover someone has tampered with time and Hill Valley, 1985. They must once again get back to 1955 to save the future. In part 3 of the trilogy, although stranded in the year 1955, Marty must travel to 1855 to rescue Doc Brown. Surviving Indian attacks and unfriendly townsfolk it's up to Marty to grab the love-struck Doc, leave the Wild West and get back to the future.

Just keeps taking you Back
I saw these films in the cinema and bought the VHS tapes and then got the DVD set. I loved them all and I think they were some of the best films of the Eighties. For me this was the Bourne Trilogy of the Eighties (see my review of that trilogy), the action is very clever and fast paced as Marty McFly travels backwards and forwards in time to try and change the present, the past and the future.
The first film sees Marty back in 1955 and trying to ensure his mum and dad get together, with the unfortunate result that his mum has a crush on him!! The second film carries on where the first finished and now Doc whisks Marty to the future to try and save his future son and therefore himself. This involves Marty heading back to 1955 to try and correct a mistake made as he tries to save his son. The journey jumps into a nightmare alternative reality and then there are more Marty's in 1955!! The interlacing of the second film with the events we saw in the first is brilliant and is so cleverly done. With Doc sent back to 1888 by a freak accident the third film sees Marty discover his time traveling pal is shot and he has to go back to save him, first convincing the 1955 Doc that he is Back! The Wild West theme of the third film is very different to the first two but the whole film is a tour de force and a great way to round off the trilogy.
I have to say that the setting of "Hill Valley" must have a certain influence on me as I have enjoyed many shows and films which used the Universal lot. From The Dukes Of Hazzard series to Ghost Whisperer and featuring in Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman series at times I seem to always love shows and films shot on the famous lot. The recent fire which destroyed much of this lot was so sad to hear about and I hope that Universal are able to recreate the town square which has featured in my viewing life so much.
Back To The Future is a true escapism trilogy and great fun for the whole family. Michael J Fox is brilliant as Marty (and other characters!) and the other recurring cast give great support throughout the three films.
Highly recommended.
Groundbreaking trilogy that truly is timeless
Back to the Future (1985)
Marty McFly (Fox) was never ready for school and when the Doc (Lloyd) asks for his assistance with a time travel experiment, he isn't prepared to be sent back to 1955 to help his parents hook up.
The first instalment breaks the foundations of cinematic time travel as Rob Zemeckis cleverly inserts a car into the picture as a time machine that runs on the deadly plutonium and from when Marty is in the past action ensues as he encounters his overly expressive teenage mother, his geeky father and the bully of Hill Valley.
Flowing with action and suspense this truly is a wonderful picture and reminds us of a time when you could swear in PGs. This is however fun for the entire family as encoded with physical humour and one of the best scientists you will ever see works perfectly.
Back to the Future Part II (1989)
When a trip into the future ends up causing more good than bad, Marty and the Doc must travel back to the same day in 1955 to retrieve a book that will cause mayhem for the future in the wrong hands.
4 years since the first release broke minds this sequel depicts the future with flying cars and skateboards and Zemeckis once more excels in the future with wonderful action staged sequences that provide giggles as well as serving a heightened adrenaline underlining. With Fox and Lloyd synchronizing comedy and drama on perfect wave lengths this adds extra tension to a wonderfully exuberant narrative
Back to the Future Part III
The final part of the renowned trilogy sends Marty back to the Old West to save the Doc from assassination.
This excels as much as the two originals by providing more action and drama and follows a different course by following the emotional side of the Doc for a change, and this was a splendid thought as the rewarding feeling we receive is indescribable, as is the trilogy, you really do have to see it to believe it.
This is definitely worth purchasing for the sheer value of entertainment.
10/10
a bit dissapointed
I was looking forward to this great triology, and yes the film was good, but the box were pretty taggy and dissapointing...It was made out of soft cardboard and breaks easily..
So it would be nice, if there were better details on the box.
