Customer Reviews
Very surprised at how good it was...
Wow.
I wasnt expecting to like it so much!! At first i thought taking chances was rubbish!! But no.. its very very good actually!!
Celine's version of "alone" is amazing!
I also dont understand why she released a video for taking chances, and i never saw it on british TV once!!! Why??
I have the single for "Eyes on me" i really love that one!!
Some others to look out for:
New Dawn- Her voice is stunning in this one!
Skies of L.A = Very pretty!
Fade Away= Great song. Its quite fast too!
shadow of love= Equally as great and up tempo!!
9.5 out of 10 overall. "thats just the woman in me" kinda spoils it... otherwise its great!! x
what!!!!!!!!!
After hearing the title track and first single, i rushed out to by this cd, thinking at last Celine Dion is back after a lifetime away it seemed. I loved the title track but was extremley disappointed with the album. To me, Taking Chances is the only track worth a listen on this cd, and the cover of Heart's "Alone",,,.....what!!!!! she has absolutley slaughtered it. Where has the voice gone...The album barely scraped the charts and the 2nd single Eyes On Me, didnt make Top 50. So sad, i am kinda hoping that Celine will ditch her Las Vegas slot, rest her voice for a while and smack back with another good cd.
Largely Surpassed My Initial Thoughts.
I got this album as a christmas present, when i first listened to it, i thought oh no i wasted my money, i want my money back, but since i've had it and given it a lot more listen's i found myself hooked, it took a few months but i got there in the end, no doubt it will become a classic in my collection over the coming years.
The songs i liked were 'Alone', i heard the original verson of this song and i thought it was a really bad effort compared to Celine's version as she gives it more power, and i feel something when i listen to this track. I also liked 'Eyes On Me', this track does stand out, but in a good way it's a song with a real eastern flavour. 'My Love', never thought i'd like this song because it reminds me of a slightly indie song, 'Can't Fight The Feelin', what a fun song, i wish all rock music was this fun, and clean at the same time, i really liked 'Taking Chances', fabulous title track, 'I Got Nothin' Left', some brilliant balladry with 'World To Believe In', 'Surprise, Surprise' is a great track with an excellent bridge, also 'Fade Away', 'Shadow Of Love', 'New Dawn', 'This Time', the agressive 'That's The Woman In Me', the Dreamy 'Skies Of L.A' & 'Right Next To The Right One' are also very credible tracks.
Overall i think it's a great album, you might not be too keen at first, but it will grow on you in time. I would defiantly recommend this album to anyone who is considering purchasing it.
