Customer Reviews
A noticeable improvement over the cx300's
First of all I didn't buy these from Amazon but needed to write a review
somewhere.
This came with a ton of accessories - A carrying pouch, a clip, earbuds
galour, a cable winder and a volume control.I intially thought that
these were cx300s and the price increase was for all the extras - but no.
I noticed the difference in sound straight off.The bass is more deeper
and fuller, the treble is crispier AND you can turn the volume up loud
with no distortion.A pleasure to listen to.
The cable is of adequate length and seems to be made of a better material
than the cx300s.My cx300s lasted less than a year due to cable fracture -
I hope these last longer. The volume control is small but does the job
very well.
Another thing I noticed was you got more bass with different earbuds - so
experiment with them.
If the calbe lasts then this is the best earphone in this price range.
I highly recommend them.
The Ultimate Noise Cancelling Headphones
Having previously owned a pair of CX300's i decided to upgrade to these when they stopped working after 2 and a half years of loyal service. Immediately I noticed the sharper sound that these beauties offered, and they really come into their own when you are in a noisy location as the noise cancellation is almost total. The volume control feature is useful so that you can switch between listening to music and talking to people and as they are made by Sennheiser are very very comfortable.
I would absolutely recommend this product to anyone with a love a music
The only downside is that the pressure created in your ears to cancel foreign sounds does take a lot of getting used to, and some people comment that they cannot cope with it. I don't really understand it, but it is the main critism of these otherwise perfect headphones.
Are they worth the extra £20 than the CX300s? probably not unless you can appreciate the extra quality; these are headphones for the perfectionist
Excellent value and sound, but they made my finger bleed!
Previously had a pair of cx300's which were great, used them on dusty excavations for a couple of years and whilst sanding floors, doors etc. They blocked out the noise of my sander and made the job much more enjoyable. I'd still be using them now but I can't find the buggers!
On first listen (right now) the cx500's seem a little harsher than the cx300's, but maybe it's the volume. They seem MUCH louder than the 300's. The symmetrical cable seems better and I'm sure the volume control is a good feature for those that will use it and it's nice and small. The cable seems longer than the 300's which i think is a plus.
The bass is still the thing that blows me away when compared to standard earphones. I listen mostly to rock music and on the standard ipod and other sennheiser phones i used to get fizzy guitars and little bass. Overall sound quality/seperation is really good, you hear things you haven't heard before in music you've listened to for years.
They are really, really comfortable and stay in the ears well and are easy to clean. All in all, great sound for a reasonable price. I'm sure there are better phones out there but i don't feel the need to hunt for them and will stick with these for a long time.
The only negative is the packaging. I'm currently bleeding on the keyboard having sliced my finger open trying to get at them. Why do people keep using this rock hard, razor sharp, heat sealed packaging!!!
Anyway, I'm off to buy a pair for my girlfriend.
