Editorial Reviews

CD Description
After racking up a string of hits in the '70s and early '80s, E.L.O.'s cosmic take on the wall of sound has aged remarkably well and influenced countless rock and rollers from TomPetty and the Smashing Pumpkins to Andrew W.K. and the Killers. THE VERY BEST OF THE ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA VOL 2 - TICKET TO THE MOON is the sister set to 2005's ALL OVER THE WORLD: THE VERY BEST OF THE ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA and taken together the discs are all the E.L.O. the casual fan will ever need. The collection boasts stand-out hits such as "Do Ya" and "Can't Get It Out of My Head", and many strong deep cuts, such as "Surrender" and the band's catchy rewrite of Iggy Pop's "The Passenger". If you've had enough of the hits from classic rock radio and are looking for a great introduction to less well-known E.L.O. material, TICKET TO THE MOON is a great diving off point.

much more than Mr Blue Sky!5
unless you are a fan you probably stopped listening to the ELO after Discovery. It's a shame really because they went on to do some great albums with terrific tunes and that's what you get here. It might not have the same deliciously overblown strings and orchestral pretensions as their earlier work but the tunes are as catchy as always. Go on, buy it. You'll love it.

De luxe edition5
This is Electric Light Orchestra at their best! Great "classics" and stuff you might be difficult to find elsewhere than on this very enjoyable compilation. Super item to a low cost!

Second ELO volume lacks true hits1
When announced we were told that this companion volume to the first All Over The World CD would mop up the hits that did'nt make it to the first volume. So what went wrong? This second volume is a real missed opportunity. What we have are some album tracks and bounus tracks from the recent remasters of Out Of The Blue and A New World Record. None of these were of course hits. BUT there are some very big ELO hits missing. The remaining ELO hits from the Xanadu soundtrack are missing (Xanadu - the original hit, Jeff Lynne's mankled version was put on volume 1, I'm Alive and Don't Walk Away)together with Here Is The News, Getting To The Point and many others. Quite why these have been left off is a mystery particularly the Xanadu songs which were all big hits. So it's best to avoid this and get the Flashback 3cd boxset (with unsurpassed remastered sound) and the 1998 Sony UK Xanadu CD soundtrack (remastered). with these 2 you'll have the complete picture of ELO's mighty 15 year reign.
