Tried so hard to like it......
I did have high hopes for this phone i really did, the feature set is to die for, from the 8gb internal memory o the symbian touchscreen interface and its there where the problem lies. It is so frustrating to use, this isn't just me jumping on the bandwagon in knocking this phone, there are so many lines of information when you go into the options that its impossible to use the touchscreen with your fingers, you either have to use the supplied stylus or use the jogwheel on the side which kind if defeats the object of the touchscreen, the whole experience just puts you off the phone which is a great shame as the Walkman is top notch as per usual, its not too bulky for a phone with an 8gb memory, come SE sort the touchscreen out and you will have a cracking phone instead of just an 'ok' phone as it stands now. Shame.
A Love-Hate thing..
When I first got this phone I loved it:
- great organisational features (e.g. you can display your to do list on the front menu and update it on the fly
- writing texts and notes is easy
- sound quality is great
- solid build quality
- acceptable camera and batt life
- navigation and touch screen is alright when the phone has just been switched on
Then I started to hate it:
- interface slows down and even freezes from time to time and the only option is to remove the battery and restart the phone which takes time (I have to do this 3-4 times a day)
-a few small bugs e.g. if you change the theme, it erases the audio tone set for the alarm and unless you remember to reassign a tone you will miss your alarm call, as happened to me a number of times until I realised what the bug was (Tried updating to the latest software and it didn't help)
- camera application and touch screen stopped working after about 2 months and I had to send it back to a Sony repair centre (who promptly sorted out this particular problem but not the freezing one.)
Where I am now is somewhere in the middle:
- Got used to the interface slowing down sometimes and freezing
Overall Verdict: If only Sony would release another firmware update that significantly improves the reliability and interface speed of the phone, this would be an absolute winner
wow
Just got my phone today ( a suprise from my partner) and im well pleased. However it started badly, getting the back cover of was really hard, was afraid i was going to crack the screen, once that was done though it was full steam ahead. I have had a few walkman phones, and found them easy to use, this one is a little more complex, but as usual with sony easy to pick up, the stylis built into the side is a nice touch, although a metal one may have been better, the screen is excellent as is the camera, and the sound quality is most impressife, the built in radio will auto tune which is useful. as far as i can see all in all an excellent product. cant wait to carry on using it,
