'Blackout' is the fifth studio album by pop superstar Britney Spears. A sassy selection of upbeat electro-tinged pop classics-in-the-making, this album tips it's hat to acts such as Mantronix and Girls Aloud whilst not alienating Spears' core fanbase. Includes the single 'Gimme More'.

Editorial Reviews
Amazon.co.uk Review
Poor old Britney Spears hasn’t exactly had a good time of it lately, what with her recent lackluster MTV performance and dubious appearances all over the tabloids. Blackout, her fifth studio album, is being touted as a bit of a comeback album, the title allegedly alluding to how she is "blacking out" all negative media coverage and focusing on getting back to form. Backed by an array of superstar beatmakers--Bloodshy & Avant, Pharrell Williams, T-Pain, Danja--Blackout presents a soundtrack that brims with trashy new-wave ‘nowness’. Tunes veer from the highly infectious "Freakshow" and "Toy Soldier" to the unconvincingly lascivious "Get Naked," "Ooh, Ooh Baby", and downright uninspiring ("Radar" and "Hot As Ice")--with some inroads into dirty disco ("Heaven on Earth") along the way. The tunes aren’t bad, but the brittle, robotic soundtrack does start to feel dated and dull, especially when Britney’s vocals are so intensely processed they feel equally starchy and disinterested. Comeback album it may be, but "Blackout" doesn’t point towards any clear future for Britney--nor for pop music in general. --Danny McKenna

It's Britney B!tCh,and at her best
Blackout is the album of 2007!,all 12 tracks have their strong points and it is pop/tech/dance perfection.
Britney has now started a major comeback, and although Madge has produced a great album this year(Hard Candy)...Blackout beats it to the chase.
already selling over 10 million copies worldwide...the comeback is now!
tracks-
G!mMe MorE-5/5-a fantastic lead single for the album and was a major sucess worldwide..congrats to her.
Piece Of M£-5/5-Perfection from Spears,a true to heart song, and a fantastic second single reaching #1 in many countries.
Radar-5/5-unfortunately not released as her 4th single from the album due to her working on her following album Circus(released in 2 months time,...and i can't wait)it's very dark and gritty and its great.
Break The Ice-4.9/5-a pretty 'mixed' track to most people when released as the 3rd single from the album...i liked it...and now i love it!.
Heaven On Earth-4.8/5-another strong attempt from the album containing a more mellow dance feel to it,yet very good.
Get Naked (I Got A Plan)-5/5-pure perfection yet again, should have been a great smash if released as a single...its fantastic!
Fr£Aksh0W-5/5-very catchy and swift song.
T0Y S0LD!£R-5/5-just wow!,the ultimate dance track on the album and very true to dark gritty heart with a harsh realism that everyone can relate to...my fave song on the album.

OoH Ooh Baby-5/5-classic fun to have when listning to again nd again.
Perfect LoVer-3/5-weakest track on the album yet still very good track.
Why Should I Be Sad-4/5-a fantasdtic wind down to Blackout.

No awkward strings or ballad cheese...
It's 2008 and Britney has come a long way from her 1999 debut "...Baby One More Time".
Sonically "Blackout" is pop. It's dance as well as electronic but definitely has r'n'b elements to it. Electro pop? It really needs listening to in order to recognise this new Britney sound, however it's familiar - there's no awkward strings (Toxic) or ballad cheese (I'm Not a Girl...). This record is for dancing to, pure and simple.
Some songs probably wouldn't work well on their own, but within the sonic context of the album it sounds like more of a 'whole', something I wouldn't say about "In The Zone".
Let's run off to the "Circus" in December!
Dance/Pop Masterpiece!!!
Once you've put any personal feelings towards Britney aside, and actually listen to the music, you're almost certain to find that this album is a milestone in her career, being some of her finest work to date. Without the image of the messy music video, 'Gimme More', the lead single, presents itself as a catchy Pop anthem, with an infectious hook, and the same could be said for 'Piece of Me' among others. There is also a new sound created for Britney on this record, in the song 'Heaven on Earth.' It would certainly be a radio smash, and is one of my personal favourites throughout all of her back catologue. It's a shame that come people can't see past her personal life. However, it seems that this will no longer be an excuse in the future, as her life is getting back on track, and we can expect new material early 2009!
