Synopsis
LIVE AT THE ALBERT, recorded in October 2001, features pop singer extraordinaire Robbie Williams performing tunes from his SWING WHEN YOU'RE WINNING album, backed by a 58-piece orchestra. Songs include "The Lady Is a Tramp," "Things" (featuring songbird and actress Jane Horrocks), "Well, Did You Evah" (featuring comedian Jon Lovitz), "It Was a Very Good Year," and "My Way." (Nicole Kidman, who recorded the duet "Somethin' Stupid" was originally slated to perform the song with the Ego, but she declined at the last minute due to nervousness.) Witness Robbie in all his swinging, swaggering glory on this release, which also contains backstage footage and more.

THE BEST SHOW MEN IN THE BUSINESS ** AT ROYAL ALBERT
This is an amazing show , I already have buy is DVD at 4 years ago and it was at that time the Best DVD in my collection , but in Blu-ray are simply the best * much more colors in HD, much more clean Images and whit DTS-HD MASTER AUDIO 5.1 IT'S SIMPLY STUNNIG ** A MASTER PIECE TO KEEP IN YOUR COLECTIONS.

Swing is alive and Robbie is the man for it
The productuon values on this show are sky-high and the orchestra / theatre lighting / photography / editing is all 5 star-quality. And Robbie Williams never sounded better.

I was never a big Robbie fan, but I appreciate his constant output of quality pop songs, some more than others. Being a huge fan of Dean Martin and, of course, the early Sinatra, I approached this Blu-ray with caution; I had never seen the DVD release of this show, or seen it anywhere, for that matter; I do own the Swing while you're winning album, and am quite fond of it.

The show itself, albeit a bit on the short side, is mesmerizing from start to finish; Taping live shows for a DVD release can be a bitter-sweet affair, as cameras invading the stage and intrusive editing can ruin the whole experience. Not so here, this is a pristine example on how a live show should be presented.

Being an HD nerd, I was amazed by the picture quality available on this Blu release. If your TV handles color and black levels well, you will be very impressed by the HD transfer; even though it is listed as 1080i, it could easily go head to head with many 1080P (FullHD) releases - and win. Detail is superb and all the colors from the stage and audience, supremely painted by the show's lights, as they change hues, is a blast to see. Blacks and whites are pristine throughout, no exceptions. You will use this to show off HD, amazingly.

The sound is even better; all speakers are used efficiently (only tested the DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio track) with little attention to the sub-woofer, but then again, this ain't a movie.

The extras are a bit on the short side, but the HD quality of the Something Stupid video is a welcome bonus; there is also a making-of of the Swing album, brilliantly edited in location when Robbie recorded the CD with a full band and some welcome aditions;

I have a +100 Blu-ray collection and I can honestly say this is one of my top jewels; I have other HD music releases in Blu (Nine Inch Nails' Beside You In Time - superb; Tori Amos; Justin Timberlake) but this easily tops all of them (except NIN's on the audio department).

Robbie at his best
This was a wonderful choice. I had heard the CD for several years but seeing him in the flesh was great. He is truley a showman, he can sing to suit the mood and entertain at the same time.
