Customer Reviews

Promised decent FPS, got a Cash Cow1
I bought this game because I like Warhammer 40,000. There was all this hype about it being a decent game and how it was going to really capture the essence of the 40k universe.

The plot; not the strongest I've ever seen, but not the worst either.

The graphics; poor! Despite needing a very good graphics card, the graphics themselves really aren't noticeably better than Quake II (which runs on a low spec windows 95).

AI: Despite being released several years after Half-life 1 and Halo, the AI is no better than Quake II, they just move, fire a few shots, and move again.

Level design: Whilst there are some nice elements to it, they are ultra-restrictive and very tight. There is almost no cover to hide behind, and the levels are so linear they become boring.

weapons: These have been completely messed up. In Warhammer 40,000 the Tau Pulse Rifle is the most powerful standard issue weapon in the game, yet in Fire Warrior it is by far the weakest. The assortment of weapons available is very small and they are all practically the same, and not much fun to use. The Rail Rifle is nice, but the sniper scopes are so poor they are rarely worth using.

Controls: These feel really sloppy, and when you move, it seems like you are swimming in treacle. The sensitivity is dire, so you cannot turn around easily, and jumping is so slow that there's almost no point including it.

Overall it is a dire game that should really be confined to the dustbin of history and forgotten. Kuju have redeemed themselves with Dawn of War, but this first attempt is a black mark on the gaming industry, Games Workshop and Kuju. If you really want to play a Warhammer 40,000 First Person shooter, buy Half-Life 2 and download the Warhammer 40,000 skins pack. It's much better.

Not for 64Bit it seems?3
I am really hoping to try this game out.
Unfortunately, I stopped using 32Bit Operating systems over 4 years ago, and this game does not seem to run in either XP64 or Vista64.
