Product Description

This sensational workout, inspired by the movie, is designed to help improve muscle tone, flexibility, burn calories and so aid in losing weight; all done to an amazing soundtrack in a fun and energetic workout. Our Instructor & Choreographer has worked with Jamelia, Kylie and Beyonce, all of who have one thing in common, they have great looking bodies because they dance! Dance is the best way to loose weight because it is great fun and you don't feel like you are working out. We have devised this workout for those of you who want to loose weight, tone up get fit and have fun whilst doing it! I think we can all agree that dancers have the best bodies and that's what this workout aims to give you! We start with a full body warm-up to mobilise the joints and muscles in preparation for the full workout. We then move into the aerobic section of the DVD - the dance class; this is split into four 8-10 minute phases. Phase 1 - concerntrates on toning the inner and outer thigh muscles. Phase 2 - emphasis is on the shoulders and legs. Phase 3 - keeps your heart rate up with off the spot action for extra fat burning. Phase 4 - brings the body back down slowly with a mellow routine. We then move onto the toning section of the DVD, keeping it true dance fashion we start with some classic barre exercises (where you can use a chair)...ever wondered why dancers have such fabulous legs and bums well you'll find out here! Then onto the floor to strengthen and tone the abs, obliques, triceps, lower back and pecs. Incorporating a dance stretch to encourage your muscles and you to relax and avoid injury. We finish with a remobiliser to awaken the body and get you ready for your day/night! This DVD can be run as a full programme (70mins) or you can choose just one or two of the dance classes if you don't have time. In the extras the dance team freestyle to the classic track 'I Want To Live Forever' which can be a fun addition to any workout! Inspired but not endorsed by or in any way associated with the movie!

Customer Reviews

Does its job- not particularly special...3
This DVD is fun for the first few times of doing it but once you know all the routines it can be a little tedious. The instructor was a little irritating and the bias of camera focus towards one dancer (the one with red, crimpled hair) was so obvious that at times it distracted from the routine. The barre and floor section is great. I wouldn't say you have to be a professional dancer to be able to use these DVDs. I'm not. But you do need the ability to pick up dance steps fairly quickly- so a dance background does help.
The soundtrack is pretty horrendous apart from the 'Fame' track they only use at the end- made a little more difficult to get me motivated.
Overall, I'd recommend buying another fitness DVD out there because I'm sure there are many that are more fun, that you don't get bored of quickly and just generally better.

Best exercise DVD I've seen in a while4
If you liked aerobics in the 80's and can pick up a dance step, you should enjoy this. The presenter is good and there are more safety teaching points than I have heard in some recent DVD's.
Each dance routine is taught and repeated 4 times within the body of the music and at quite a fast pace - I prefer this as I feel I am working out while I learn, rather than wasting time going slowly to pick up steps. Then each segment is put together and repeated before moving on to the next part.
The barre is a little hard if you have a carpeted floor, your foot may drag. And the counting out loud for the abs routine makes it sound like St Trinians, but is actually useful as you don't have to keep looking at the screen to keep up.
It's a good combination of up tempo dance, ballet and stretch.
I feel sorry for the girls sitting round the edge of the dance studio, they look bored - I'm sure they would rather have joined in!

Inspired!5
I appreciate that this DVD will be difficult for people that don't have a dance background but I absolutely love it. I was a big fan of the original show and the music in the DVD really inspires me to keep working-out even when I'm tired. I would definately recommend this for people who have moderate dance experience who are fans of the original TV series and soundtracks.
