What Chart Music Should Be.5
Having never heard of Richard Fleeshman before and not knowing anything about the type of music he played, I was skeptical of what I was about to hear when I listened to 'Hold Me Close'. As soon as the song began, it instantly became a favourite of mine. Managing to go from slow and calming ('Back Here') to fast and upbeat ('Play It Down The Middle' or 'Going Backwards') requires real talent, and it's pulled off easily in 'Neon'. My favourite song on this album has to be 'Back Here'. As soon as I listen to it, it completely mellows me out, and it's easy to relate to.

Not what I expected at all from an 18-year-old previous soap actor, this album has some pop in it, but it's not at all a poppy album. With a variety of songs, some amazing compositions and Fleeshman's calming voice, Neon is definitely a must-have.

Excellent Debut Album!5
This album "Neon" is brilliant and shows everybody that as well as having a superb voice, Richard is a very talented songwriter. A good mixture of songs, this album should appeal to a wide audience.
With the very high quality of his amazing debut album, I am sure he will be a huge star in the music business for many years to come.
Should have gone straight to the top of the Charts!

Neon Shines Brightly For Richard Fleeshman5
I must admit, I was a little skeptical upon listening to this for the first time, what with Fleeshman's age I thought he would of been pushed towards sugary pop. How wrong I was.

Richard Fleeshman has a singing voice thats mature beyond his age of 18 years. His songs remind me of a mixture of Paolo Nutini and Bryan Adams, and yet he doesn't appear to be recognised due to poor sales of this album. This seems typical of music today, unless you're plucked from obscurity and told to sing songs and not develop your craft (i.e. Leona Lewis or Shane Ward) you don't seem to have success. It would seem that rather than target the younger audience because of Fleeshamn's age and aparent good looks, he is better suited to a Radio 2 audience, something which would garuntee better success.

The album itself is a joy to the ears from start to finish (well, maybe apart from "Secret Smile", but that song has never been a favourite even when Semisonic sang it). My favourite track been the laid back acoustic track "Back Here" which is powerful in its simplicity, something that is not easy to do pull off even for a seasoned pro.

In closing, if you like your soft rock and can put aside your skepticism like I did, you'll be very surprised and also realise that this album will be a gem in your CD collection.
