Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
It’s a record every twelve months at the moment for Ghostface Killah, even discounting his presence in the ranks of the revived Wu-Tang Clan--but if The Big Doe Rehab finds this Staten Island MC stretching himself thin, it doesn’t show in the quality stakes. Sure, there’re moments where Ghost seems frayed or erratic--"Don’t put me in no mental clinic!" he blurts on gruesome heist tale "Walk Around". But there’s much here to suggest Ghostface’s seventh solo album is more or less the equal of 2006’s excellent Fishscale. A good proportion of production is handled by P Diddy’s team The Hitmen, fresh from Jay-Z’s American Gangster, and pumping out the rich soul loops like they’ve got beats to burn. It’s a packed guestlist, too, with Wu members Raekwon, Method Man, and U-God all on board, plus numerous MCs from Ghost’s Theodore Crew, which gives the likes of "Paisley Darts" and "Yolanda’s House"–-a chase track where Method Man gets, quite literally, caught with his pants down--an endearingly busy feel. This being Ghostface, though, there’re tears and swoons, too: take "I’ll Die for You", smooth ‘70s soul where our troubled protagonist gets down on his knees and makes to heft the world onto his shoulders. –-Louis Pattison

KILLAH5
This is as good as fishscale once again ghost has put alot of effert into this album but i know he was very upset with the fan's copin the album on the net and i agree if you say you are a fan of an artist then you should support what they do,anyway this is a good album so if you are a FAN then pick it up.

Ghost delivers again4
Ghostface, arguably the Wu's best emcee, has carved his own lane. He has a formula that works, and he's sticking to it.

If you own any of his earlier albums, and particularly his most recent joints (Pretty Toney, Fishscale, More Fish) you'll know exactly what to expect here... off the wall lyrics, crazy flows, respect for the old school, grown-man gangsterism and impeccable swagger. And Ghost delivers yet again.

In terms of 'the Formula'; "We Celebrate" featuring Kid Capri is this years "Be Easy", an old school party jam with that unmistakable Tony Starks twist. "Supa GFK" (Starks' take on Redman's "Sooperman Luva" series) is this years "Holla", where Ghost performs his party trick of rapping over an old soul record in its entirety, vocals and all, rather than sampling and looping it, and "Shakey Dog featuring Lolita" is, literally, this years "Shakey Dog", where Ghost gets his inimitable story-telling swagger on.

The guest appearances this time around are not limited to Wu-Tang emcees and Def Jam-signed vocalists, and on "Barrel Brothers", three of the hardest lyricists in the game (Ghost, Beanie Sigel and Styles P) combine for one of the strongest tracks on the album.

Of course, Ghosts old partner-in-rhyme Raekwon and other Wu emcees are here as usual (check for the excellent "Paisley Darts" for a soulful Wu posse cut), and it is on the Rae and Meth assisted "Yolanda's House" that Big Doe Rehab finds its main highlight... a witty and original track where the three emcees spin a tale set in the same building, where their individual stories collide, over one of the best beats on the album.

GFK has delivered one of the years best long players. If its that typical Ghostface music that you fiend for, if you loved Fishscale and want more, you will not be disappointed with Big Doe Rehab. If you want a progressive sound and you're searching for originality, something you've not heard before, maybe the new Wu-Tang Clan album would be better suited to your needs.
