DVD Description

In River Cottage – Gone Fishing! celebrity chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall heads back to nature in an attempt to tackle the problem of England's dwindling fish supplies. With the issue of unsustainable fishing now a global concern, what's a fish lover to do when they want to keep enjoying their seafood without contributing to environmental degradation? Especially a fish lover in England, where 'Fish 'n Chips' is just about as national as a dish can get! Watch River Cottage – Gone Fishing! to find out how Hugh thinks eating ugly fish can ensure seafood fanatics get their fish fix guilt-free.

Synopsis

In River Cottage - Gone Fishing! Hugh travels the length and breadth of Britain on a tireless quest to find an eco-friendly seafood source that's both delicious and nutritious. Beginning his culinary journey in the Channel Isles, he hopes to discover the top-notch, sustainable seafood that we really should be eating. Armed with a humble fishing rod and an adventurous palate--and aided by the help of some local fish fanciers--Hugh discovers a vast array of underrated, eco-friendly seafood, plus great ways of making it taste fantastic.

Easy going and informative5
There are a few cooks who I can watch any time even if I've got no intention to do any cooking. Nigella, Rick Stein, Keith Floyd, the hairy bikers and two fat ladies, and the great British Menu if that counts. The others annoy me too much whether its the foul language or joyless attitude, and especially the way the cameras are always moving on some programmes as if we're on a ship in a rough sea! But Hugh and the others are always a delight and this dvd is very easy to watch and so informative. I learned a few tips from it without realising I had learned them until I was actually cooking. Any of Hugh's series are good and this one would make a good starter.

Informative, interesting, enlightening5
A really very enjoyable DVD from the marvellous Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall. Trips to the Channel Islands & the Scottish Isles, to catch, prepare & eat, a whole range of fishy delights, highlight the diversity of more sustainable fish options open to the consumer.
Some of the fish & fish dishes featured on this DVD are not your average cod & chips. This is a really excellent effort by Hugh to higlight the more environmentally sensitive alternatives, to the fish we normally eat.
A real must for the seafood fans amongst us & particularly those with a concern about dwindling fish stocks. If you are an angler, particularly a sea angler, then there would be something for you in this DVD too, as Hugh & his mates set off to sea to do some serious fishing.
A slightly different approach to sea food to that adopted by the magnificent Rick Stein but every bit as enjoyable.
Great recipes & marvellous presenting from Hugh - a return to form after the fairly disappointing River Cottage Road Trip DVD - highly recommended.
