CD Description
'The Makings Of A Man' is the fourth studio album by Jaheim. Following up 2006's 'Ghetto Classics' this record effortlessly combines slick soul ballads with modern, fresh RnB. Jaheim's famous silky and sophisticated vocals shine throughout. Includes the single 'Never' and a collaboration with Keyshia Cole.
Customer Reviews
Makings of a fine album
What Jaheim does so well is take the ingredients of classic soul a la Womack,Pendergrass etc. and weaves it into a modern urban setting without loosing that sense of soul magic. This third (fourth if you count the last hits)album continues to deliver quality of a high order. When he says the lyric "What the world really needs-is a new face of RnB" Jaheim is unashamedly laying down the gauntlet to the likes of Ne-Yo,Chris Brown,Usher,Trey Songz and all the other commercial bland pop/soul artists out there to get off there ass*s and create some quality music. It may be arrogant bigging yourself up but ,hey if the cap fits Jaheim deserves to wear it!Any album that samples a Womack classic (Wish he didn't trust me so much) and breathes new life into it has got to make an impression on any true soul fan.Tracks like 'Have You Ever' and the beautiful ballad 'Lonely'deserve to be monster hits.Sadly this kind of music gets little airtime in the UK unless you listen to specialist programmes in the small hours. This album will probably be the best of the buch for quite some time.Buy it.
Not Yet The King of R'n'B, But Close
Jaheim starts of the album stating hes the new king of r'n'b, when i first heard him say this i thought NO! dont get me wrog Jaheim is great but not the King yet! But after listening to the album hes dam sure close, ive been a fan of Jaheim from the start and his first album was alright, and hes gradually improved on each album there after. Jaheim has stepped his came up big time hes moved labels so there was a bit of a wait for this one, but the wait was well worth it.
Tracks such as Have U Ever, Lonely, Just Dont Have A CLue are classic tracks and the rest of the tracks follow suit. This album is called The Makings Of A Man and this album has proved that Jaheim is the MAN especially in todays current crop of R'n'B/Soul singers
This is a must for any true R'n'B fan out there
Jaheim The Makings of a Man
Simply one of the best voices around at the moment. Some superb tracks including strong upbeat tempo songs and some ballards. Definately one for your collection.
