Guitar Hero III Game
- Rock This Way: The arcade-inspired battle mode adds a new dimension to the Guitar Hero franchise. The idea isn't necessarily to hit the most notes, but rather hit the right ones and learn the nuances of using the power-up attacks.
- An Authentic Look and Feel: Improving the graphics from the ground up have created a more intense visual element giving guitar heroes the sense of performing on their own rock stage.
- You've Got to Beat the Best, To Be the Best: Battle mode lends itself to the boss battles featuring Slash and Tom Morello. After defeating a boss, unlock them as a playable character and continue to the encore for the set list, which is a master recording of one of their most legendary songs.

Excellent Game/Value- Plus 2 Guitars-2 players
I bought this for my PS2 (Already own GH3 for Wii). The Plugg in Guitars are easy to use, long leads and saves recharging batteries all the time.
Allows 2 people to play together( as a band: Lead/Bass or Rhythm/Lead- depending on song) or they can compete against each other, again much cheaper than buying an extra Guitar. The whole Family can have fun together playing 2 at a time, as well as creating your own career.
Fantasic for Kidz (& Adults)- must admit I prefer My Wii for me as can use it in bed with head phones and not upset neighbours. This PS2 version is just plug in and play when ever you want. Also means you can buy the earlier Games GH1 & GH2, also would give 5 stars to thoses games. (Though dissapointed with GH 80's...3 stars)
At time of writing its less than £50, would buy NOW if I didn't already own it, would still good value at normal price.( I paid around £55 on amazon a month ago)
Not as hard as people make out!
I played Guitar Hero 2 at a friend's house for the first time last weekend and I loved it so much that I bought GH3 with the two controllers. I read some of the reviews where people had said it's too difficult and wasn't sure what to expect. Well, it isn't that hard at all. It is a tiny bit less forgiving than GH2, but I can still hit 99% of notes on easy (that 100% is still eluding me!) and I've only played it a few times.
The graphics are, well, the same as before, which is basic. But this game isn't about visual appeal, it is about playability and it has that by the shedload.
I'm not an all-out rock and metal fan (Foo Fighters is my kind of thing) so, for me, the songs make up an interesting selection of rock and pop-rock hits from the last 20 to 30 years. There's many songs I don't know and there are a number of catchy melodies that, although I wouldn't buy them, I am quite happy to 'rock out' to on GH3. You can also buy a number of new songs, so you shouldn't get too bored, too quickly. Plus there are the encore songs - but only if you're good enough!
Finally, I recommend getting the two controllers. Even though they are wired, the wires are very long, so unless you're going to spin round and knock over the furniture while you're at it, this shouldn't be a problem. The advantage of the two controllers is that you can play with a friend in the 2 player mode and either battle each other, or play together as a band in a guitar/guitar, guitar/bass, or bass/bass combo.
In conclusion, a great game that is marginally harder than its predecessors, but, if you can't do well on it, you must have no rhythm and should stick to Gran Tourismo or something.
Excellent family fun
I now have a new found admiration for Axl Rose and other rock guitarists. Great fun - especially for the first few days when you can beat your 11yr old son, after that the novelty wears off a bit as they get the hang of the game and beat you every time - even when you're still on the easy level and they're playing like Hendrix.
Banning them from having any sugar for a day or two slows kids down though - try it you might win again.
