Product Description

The year is 2024 and the world stands on the brink of economic and social breakdown, natural resources are all but gone and the superpowers have reformed. The Western Coalition (Europe and American) and the Red Star Alliance (China and Russia) are now at war over the last remnants of oil in the Caspian. You take control of the Stray Dogs unit (part of the Western Coalition) leader as you fight a series of large scale high intensity battles in a desperate bid to secure your way of life.

  • Fight in Open World Environments in both single and multi-player campaign modes, with multiple routes on every map, you can fight the enemy differently every time you play
  • Challenge up to 64 players online on PC and 32 on consoles. Use high-tech combat systems to collect and relay recon, targeting, and threat information then share this between team mates using squad specific chat
  • Frontline combat system: Use team based tactics to fight your way to key objectives, take them and push the frontline forward into your opponents territory, this mechanic always keeps the battle fierce and the players fully embedded in the action and the exciting non-linear structure means you can fight for the objectives in any order
  • Customisable soldier classes allow you to represent your play style through multiple weapon load-outs and role specializations. As you progress these classes evolve, the more experience you get the more features will be unlocked within the Role and give players new abilities on the battlefield
  • Over 60 next-gen vehicles and weapons inspired by military designs for the near future. These include remote controlled drones such as RC cars packed full of C4 (perfect for taking our tanks) aerial reconnaissance drones that feed back enemy locations to your team mates, directional rockets for homing in hard to reach enemy armour and many many more.

Customer Reviews

good game but just a few things that put it down4
Great game, the frontline system works well, keeping players moving. Roles are well devised with choice of weapons and equipment. There are some secret achevements which I accidentaly got one of, which is otherwise pretty hard to get i think(unfortunately, it's not to brag about), i'm not sure if the other one is similar but i got a funny one, not telling anyone more than that there. It looks like there could be some DLC(downloadable content)
The single player is cool, leading you on multiple and different missions as the 'Stray Dogs' a squad which makes more sense than the one man VS the rest of the world.

It gets a 4 star because there are some bugs like a floating box but it does look like it could be easily fixed, other that that it's great and i would highly recomend it.

Fun for a time, no lasting appeal, multiplayer fatally flawed2
Along with a lot of people I have been waiting eagerly for the release of FFoW. I was especially looking forward to the sandbox environment and fully interactive terrain, neither of which disappoint.

The single player mode isn't as bad as a most people make out, for once your opponents are a little tougher to kill than in most games, which makes you plan your strategy. The auto drones are fun and the storyline is interesting and topical.

However, for a game that has based most of it's reputation on its advanced online play, this is a huge disappointment.

Firstly there is only one multiplayer mode, which is essentially Domination for those of you familiar with COD4. That's it, nothing else.

Secondly, the auto drones which were so much fun in the single player, are a real pain in multiplayer, not to use, but to be on the receiving end of. If you've got fed up of just being fragged to pieces with grenades on COD4, then the drones are going to drive you bonkers here. The other team can sit in a hidey hole, launch their drones and frag you out of the game. Well do the same to them, you might say, but that's not particularly advanced multiplayer to me!

Thirdly, and this is where the multiplayer game dies on its feet, it is a spawn camper's dream. Once you're enemy has captured all but one or two bases, all they have to do is pitch in with their Calor gas stove and spawn camp you out of the game. When the game lets you spawn at all. Oh yes, when all your bases are captured the AI doesn't let you spawn so you can't rejoin the game and get them back! Again hardly advanced multiplayer to me.

I was online last night for a few hours and spent approximately 30% of my time waiting to spawn, it was my team that was rubbish not me :-)

So if you loved Battlefield, even down to the use of great vehicles including F16 fighter jets in multiplayer, you'll probably like this as it is very similar.

If you loved the gritty realism of Rainbow Six, save your money and wait a couple of weeks for that sequel.

I can guarantee FFoW will be available as a pre-owned at knock down prices within a fortnight as the much vaunted multiplayer drives people away in droves.

One last point to consider, the previous reviewer compared this favourably with Shadowrun, which to me, was one of the worst Xbox games ever!

Caveat emptor.

Great!5
Okay, the single player was very average; possibly 2 or 3 stars. The mutliplayer is incredible though - i actually prefer it to Call of Duty 4. It seems they've combined battlefront 2 and call of duty 3 and 4! Definitely worth a try and one of the best demos out for ages.
Like another reveiwer said - great draw distances etc but also it's tactical and fun to play!
Oh and everyone that likes this should try out Shadowrun! Its the best : )
