Editorial Reviews

CD Description
Third album from Montreal pop-punkers follows 2006's 'StillNot Getting Any'. Marking a departure for the band from their familiar sound, this release sees them slowing down the tempo, flirting with hip-hop and RnB styles and working with an eclectic string of producers including Timbaland protege Nate "Danja" Hills (Duran Duran), Swedish pop supremo Max Martin (Kelly Clarkson) and metal guru Dave Fortman (Mudvayne). Includes the single 'When I'm Gone'.

last week at my lokal record store, my wife( Canadian...) had this in her hand.
And I remembered the last CD from Simple plan she bought, so I give it a try, and I have to admit this is catchy stuff.
So some call it punk -rock or punk- pop? I was around late 70's , I bought l.p's from Iggy Pop, the Clash, and the Ramones.
THAT'S punk. this is very catchy pop-music with just enough "rock" edge for me to like it. They DO make me wanne jump and dance around,
sound corny but I can't help it.
Have to admit sometimes , it sounds a bit to much like a boyband( ..backstreet boys for example? just listen to song 1,
specially the oo-oooh) who wants to sound more rock.
But than they come up ,just in time, with a straight forward guitar intro, to have me back on track. ( song 2.)
Maybe thats also because of the use of keyboards, the computer programming and strings on this record.
But then again ,it gives the record a little extra (variation)
Playing live they are probably even better= just about "two guitars , bass, drum and a voice.
I wil check them out when they play in Holland.
This is a great catchy (sorry I used that word again) record, they write their own songs, I turned up the volume,Jumped around, eh..well my head went up and down, spilled some coffee, and when it was over, I pressed''repeat", I bet you will too!

ready to rock to simple plan5
This album is far different from the previous two albums. The Style of the music i think is something fresh and new but at the same time has that simple plan theme to it.

Every track on this album is a classic but the ones that stand above the rest:

Your Love Is A Lie
When I'm Gone
Save You
I Can Wait Forever
Holding On

I'm a big fan of this band and have really loved what they have released so far with this self titled album being their best yet. i also have to point out that the use of a swear word at first shocked me but now i think it fits the song 'Your Love Is A Lie' (which is my fav track above the ones i listed)

I wud give 10/10 for this album based on the effort and the great lyrics. Good job SP

Utterly different sound..and a seemingly different band.2
I love simple plan mainly for their sparky sound and relative lyrics but this album is so much different. I enjoyed this on my first listens but after becoming significantly acquainted to music, this is garbage basically there's next to no skilled musicianship, chemistry, lyrics or artistry here they're simply a dance pop band with nothing but manufactured pop songs.
I expected so much more from this but it doesn't fulfil any of my expectations it increases my inhibitions towards this band. If you're easily impressed by music and see nothing more than catchy songs then get yourself a mind and possibly this CD but otherwise leave it, sincerely leave it this is very dissapointing.
