Manufacturer's Description

Set in Ancient China during the 3rd century, Dynasty Warriors 6 immerses gamers in a truly cinematic kung -fu action experience. Celebrated characters have been completely re -imagined with new weapons and fighting techniques motion -captured from some of today's leading stuntmen and women in Asia. With the game's new "Renbu" attack system and game controls, players can execute lightning -fast combos and the most dazzling fighting moves with ease.

Developed from the ground up exclusively for next -generation platforms, the game's proprietary engine delivers the most chaotic and challenging Tactical Action experience to date. Players can use the landscape to elude the thousands of soldiers swarming the battlefield. But as players move and attack, adaptable enemy A.I. devises offensive and defensive combat tactics, and can retaliate with packs of fierce hunting dogs and patrol boats. All of the explosive action comes to life in high definition, 60 frames per second (fps) graphics.

Based on the epic novel, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Dynasty Warriors 6 depicts the massive battles ignited by the fall of the Han Dynasty when three rebellious states moved to overthrow the Emperor of China.

For Fans of the Series Only4
The Dynasty Warriors series has always been one with a lover it or hate it attitude. Those who love it generally stick with the series for a long time regardless of the changes made. Those who hate it... generally will always hate it.

As one of the other reviews has already stated at length all the major changes that have been implemented already so I will not go into much detail in regards to those areas.

In some aspects of characters the weapon selection has been changed from the old usual's found in last gen, the more exotic of weapons have all but been removed, Zhang He's Claws, Sun Ce's Tonfas have been changed, most characters all have similar weapons, swords, spears or pikes, also the weapon system has been changed in that there is only 1 skin for each weapon for the non-story mode characters, and only 3 different types of weapon for the main story characters. This is a bit of a let down as it leads to many of the characters being near enough the same, so the roster has been filled with many characters who use the same weapons with the same move sets.

The story mode has also been shortened, with only 23 characters available to play through, each character has around 5 stages but none are unique so you play the same stages as multiple characters.

there is a good amount of maps, but the same maps are used for various battles, which means you play the same map, but under different settings or amryies, clearly a way to lengthen the game out without creating a whole ton of maps.

A new improvement is the amount of people who can be displayed on screen at once, which gives rise to larger armies for you to wade your way through which is always fun.

I expected more from the first DW (dynasty warriors) on the next gen, but all in all it is a good game if your a fan of the series you should definitely consider picking up a copy. Heres hoping that the next installment will contain vast upgrades to the current system.

dynastic disappointment?4
Dynasty Warriors 6 is the lattest in the dynasty warriors saga and the first to feature a new graphics engine (BOO DW 5) to FINALLY take advantage of the new consoles.

And in this it achieves top marks, but it also slaps you in the face. Battles are hard (i mean really hard later on), there is no more mixing x&y its either or making combat more generic, officer/character weapons have been changed! (and bow attacks are gone, but personally, not all that bothered)

The graphics are great, though the common soldiers havnt improved all that much, officers and scenery are much better. And some new things have been added, an RPG element has been added to character development, when your officer levels up you get points to spend on skill trees meaning you can choose how they develop not just bog standard characteristic inceases.

Siege warfare is now a much more important part of the game, with both sides using siege weapons (ballista, catapults and rams) and ladders are now introduced (hoorah).

There are alot of characters to unlock, but dont let the official figures fool you as only about half of them have their own mosou campaign (even sun ce has had his camapign dropped).

Dynasty warriors was always a great hack and slash, and has always been accused of "boring" "monotonous" and "more of the same" and with the over simplification of the combat system it is more open to such criticism than ever, is it time for koei to transfer their flagship series to the samurai warriors series?

Xbox 360 must have for 20085
This is a legend game. It procceds expectations in all areas including graphics and battle situations. If you have liked any of the other Dynasty warriors games this is a must have. I found that the xbox 360 version is better than the ps3 version. To give a short answer i think its better than all the others and one of the best games youll buy in 2008
