Product Description

With a size of an astonishing 18.4 x 7.5 x 7.5 mm the q-JAYS are the smallest earphones on the market. Despite this it fits dual micro armatures and an AirBooster that deepens the bass and listening experience. The sound will blow you away. If you thought you had heard it all ? think again. Dual micro armatures q-JAYS are built with the same technology used in our awarded d-JAYS, but we have managed to shrink the armature size drastically. Despite a housing size almost the third of the d-JAYS, our top model fits two micro armatures in each earphone ? one tweeter that delivers precise highs and one woofer that creates rich lows and mids. Furthermore an AirBooster enhances the low frequencies and gives an even deeper bass. Ultimate Fit Smart earphone design and a soft silicon sleeve, available in five sizes, enables the earphone to fit snugly in any ear. The sleeves are washable and allow you to keep them clean at all times. Sound Isolation JAYS silicon rubber sleeves reduces the background noise of modern life. With this silent setting you can experience an amazing sound experience even at low volumes. Flexible cord and input connection q-JAYS cord can be adjusted both in length and with different input connectors. q-JAYS comes standard with a 60 cm (~24inch) long cable with a straight 3.5mm (1.8 in) Mini-Plug Stereo connector. It is delivered with two 90 cm (~35inch) extension cords, both with 3.5mm (1.8 in) Mini-Plug Stereo connector, one L-shaped and one I-shaped. Minature Magic5
I have had lots of earphones over the years and if you read any other reviews of mine theres a 99% chance it's about earphones. I'm a magpie & I LOVE EM!!

I have had these a day now and have listened to all genres through them and they sound fantastic with everything. They are superb earphones, clear crisp highs balanced mids and beautiful deep, warm lows which is unbelievable considering the size of them.

Initially my heart sank when I opened the jiffy and saw the size of them, knowing what I know about earphones there was no way that something so small could output the quality I was looking for. I was soooooo wrong! Jays have used some sort of magic or wizardry to get the sound these put out.

If you have the cash (I got mine for £109.00) buy them, they are comparable to Shures SE420 which are second only to the SE530 top spec from the Shure SE range and retail for anything between £170-£249.00. You will not believe your ears.....

Review Update 2-11-2008

Just wanted to say that I've kept these phones in favour of some far more expensive IEM's that I've owned and sold on. These have been everywhere with me over the past year so I can definately say they are robust, the main thing though is that they just sound better than anything else in this phone genre and that includes the brilliant Shure range even the 530's. High praise indeed but I feel that having owned so many different phones over the years I'm qualified to make this judgement.

Design flaw lets these down2
Don't get me wrong the sound from these phones is excellent, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. However after a few weeks or months you will most likely find the following problem:

After a while earwax deposits build up on the tiny cover which protects the speaker. The little cover itself is not particularly adhesive and relies on a tiny ring of that jelly-like substance that mags used to attach CDs to their cover. The only problem is that the adhesive may come off when you try to peel the cover off, and once it's off it's impossible to put it back. Also if the protective cover is not stuck down properly then it causes the sound to soften and distort ever so slightly.

The right side earpiece packed up today as well, after only 4 months.

I'm not remotely satisfied with these phones and will be going back to Shure phones that I had before which were only £40.

Sound great but build is poor.2
The first thing to say is that these were the best sounding earphones I have ever owned, and I have owned Westone UM1s and currently use Westone UM2s.

However, I have had 2 pairs of these and both broke down after only 3-4 months of light to medium use each. They both seemed to suffer from a breakdown in one of the bass drivers causing a badly distorted/ripped sound at medium to higher volumes.

Jays replaced the first pair for free, and then offered to replace the second pair for free as well, however I dont want to go on getting replacement after replacement, I actually want to use my earphones, so I have gone back to my Westone UM2s.

A crying shame for sure.
