Great little bit of kit
I found this product to be a great way of using my ipod in car. The sound quality is much improved over the 3.5mm IPOD output as it uses the docking port instead, it charges the ipod and the remote control is very effective. I can leave my ipod tucked away in the glovebox without ever having to touch it. The small remote can be removed from the rubber steering wheel mount and be placed anywhere which is a great feature if like me you dont like things strapped to your steering wheel. The kensington auto powers on and off so you can leave it connected to the cigarette ligher without any problems. Overall a cheap and effective alternative to a manufaturer fit system (Volvo wanted over £400 to buy, retrofit and code there factory IPOD lead!). Ok the only thing the kensington lacks is song display on your factory headunit but its a small concession IMHO for the difference in cost.
Kensington LiquidAux for iPhone and iPod
I have installed this item in my car and am delighted with its performance with my iPod, (cannot speak for iPhone). It links to the Aux input of my radio and gives perfect sound through the speakers as well as charging the iPod. The remote is clipped to the steering wheel and I can now operate the iPod without loosing control of the car. Seem to have thought of every thing you even get an extra cable if your storeage location is too far away. It does what is says - excellent product.
Excellent product!
Using this with my iphone 3G and Audi A4, which has 3.5mm AUX socket and 12v socket in the centre armrest. The sound quality is superb, better than the headphone output I had been using previously and charges the iphone without any problems. The remote is excellent and works a treat removed from the steering wheel holder and mounted on the dash with a bit of double sided sticky tape! Only problem for me is that although there is a audio extension lead included the cigarette plug lead is too short if you want to use the centre armrest 12v socket and mount the phone on the dash. Sorted with a simple extension lead from Maplin, 4.99.
