Manufacturer's Description
Two fan-favourite titles from the popular THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD series are being compiled into one grisly, action-packed horror shooter for the Wii. Both THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD II and III, which collectively have sold over 500K units, will feature the original arcade experience, complete with branching storylines, over six ghoul-filled game modes and bonus content. Gamers will re-live their glory days in the arcades and now with the new rapid-fi re Wii Zapper, mowing down packs of clawing, biting undead is even more satisfying!

Addictive and fun
Ok so it's old, the graphics aren't what you would call next generation and the voice acting is truely awful....... the thing is this game is what alot of games aren't anymore....FUN! If you played trhe old arcade games then you will love this and if you didn't you will probably still love it. blowing the heads off zombies is very theraputic. I've got umbrella chronicles too and although technically it's better it ain't a patch on this. who buys a wii for graphics anyway??? buy this now but not from amazon i got next day delivery from an ebay shop. woo hoo!
Why not The House of the Dead Trilogy???
Thankfully, developers are beginning to realise that the Wii is perfect for light gun games. The House of the Dead series is one of the greatest in the genre, and the Wii conversion retains everything that made these games so special in the arcades.
Graphically, nothing has been updated, so Part 3 obviously looks better than Part 2. A few modes have been bundled in, like Boss mode and a few tutorials, unlockable extras etc. But Arcade mode really is where its at.
There are multiple branching paths throughout each stage, which usually depend on whether a civilian is rescued or killed. This provides amazing replayability. On a similar note, those worried that unlimited credits wouold ruin this game need not worry. There is a set number of credits when played for the first time, and every failed attempt to complete either game, increases the number of credits available or the players maximum health. This really helps prevent sticking points, especially boss battles, or dying at exactly the same point again and again. Admittedly, the feature has been lifted from the PlayStation versions of Time Crisis, but a great addition regardless.
The co-op mode is also great fun and just like the arcade, player 2 can jump into the action at any time during play.
The House of the Dead 2 & 3 return is incredibly nostalgic for those who have played it, and still a fantastic light gun game for those who havent.
But would it have been too much to ask for the original House of the Dead as well? The House of the Dead trilogy would have sounded so much better too! But a small gripe with an otherwise brilliant package.
old school fun!
i was very happy to see house of dead on wii, and was quick to make it one of my first purchases. ive spent hours, in the days, at arcades blasting zombies. i got the venom gun with this and once you calibrate the gun with your tv its simple. just point and shoot and kill. Brilliant!!!
