Product Description

If you have any interest at all in sophisticated pop music, you need to hear this remastered 22-track compilation of Dionne Warwick's original '60s singles written, arranged, and produced by Burt Bacharach with the invaluable lyrical contributions of Hal David. Bacharach and David received a long-overdue critical reappraisal in the mid-to late-'90s, and their work with Warwick's sublime, pure pop voice has regained the status it richly deserves.
This 2000 release lacks a few vital pieces, notably Warwick's first Bacharach/David hit, the atypically funky "Don't Make Me Over". But overall, it's an exquisite introduction to both one of the finest songwriting teams in pop history and, more importantly, to one of their finest interpreters.

Customer Reviews

Always something there to remind me.5
I can remember some of these songs from when I was a child in the sixties/seventies. It has been a bit of a journey down memory lane. What is a surprise is just how fresh they have stayed (and how influential Burt Bacharach was). I am sure I have heard several of these songs covered by other people, but there is no getting away from Dionne's wonderful voice. If you like Burt, Dionne and don't forget David, or if you are younger and these are new to you, I hope you will be pleasantly surprised and enjoy them too.
