Editorial Reviews
Album Description
* Surprisingly, this is the first Millie Jackson CD to be released on the Kent label. Although five tracks have made it to compilation albums, this is the definitive collection of her (mainly) modern soul dance tracks all together in one handy pick-up-and-play CD: "Songs For The Dancefloor".
* The tracks were penned by Bobby Womack, Benny Latimore, George Jackson, Don Covay and Ashford & Simpson among others. There's not a single filler or duff track in sight.
* `You Can't Stand The Thought', `Ask Me What You Want' and `Don't Send Nobody Else' have always been firm favourites at such crossover establishments as Pitches and Yarmouth. `You Can't Turn Me Off' and `If That Don't Turn You On' are heading that way, while `House For Sale' and `My Man Is A Sweet Man' have been Northern Soul monsters for years
* Millie's first 45, the MGM-released stomper `My Heart Took A Licking' is on Kent for the first time.
Customer Reviews
Somethings are best left unsaid . . .
Not the best output from Ms Jackson. To me it is a mediocre CD. I should have followed my own advice and listened prior to purchase.
What else can I say? I skipped through 2/3rds of the album. Probably says it all.
soul for the dance floor
Quick revival of Millie's 50's hits very good reminder, easy listening to, a couple of very good tracks especially Rising cost of love but her later ones are better.
