As the all-new racing experience from Codemasters Studios, creators of Colin McRae: DiRT™, Race Driver: GRID is all about the race. Every moment from the adrenalin rush at the start lights to the elation at the chequered flag – the tension, pressure, noise, and action.
Featuring only the most powerful race cars – current and classic, circuit and drift – players will compete to conquer the most prestigious official race tracks and championships and then go beyond to compete in challenging city-based competitions, through to road events and urban street races.
With races crammed with action and incident, high-impact moments will come at you thick and fast, one right after another: engine blows, tyre blow outs, tight overtaking, accidents, opponent cars flipping, spinning, collisions with other cars and trackside objects.
From humble beginnings, earning a few thousand dollars a season, build a feared and respected racing team with a multi-million dollar income and complete at dramatic race locations and dominate a multi-disciplined world of racing.
In Europe, race prestige Marques, including Aston Martin, Koenigsegg and Pagani, on the greatest official race circuits. Enter street competitions and race high-performance V8 muscle cars through iconic U.S. cities including San Francisco, Washington DC and Detroit. In the Far East, Japanese racing culture sets the tone where night races, including Drift racing, take drivers through neon illuminated cities and to outlying mountain roads.
As the antithesis of the box-ticking, plodding single-player race game, Race Driver: GRID delivers a diverse career mode in a persistent world of racing that provides each player with a unique experience as their team writes itself into racing folklore.

LAN Play
Race Driver: GRID (PS3)
Race Driver: GRID (PC DVD)
I bought the game for its LAN Play capabilities, i.e. play between multiple PS3 machines on a local network, specifically for playing in a location with no Internet connetion.
It turns out that you must have an Internet Connection and log in, in order to set up and play a local game.
The Best Racer Available
The best racer available. Race Driver: GRID places its focus on actual racing, and feels refreshing as a result. Simulation-heavy games like Gran Turismo are nothing like GRIDS arcade approach. In fact its difficult to pinpoint exactly why GRID is such a good racer. Every aspect feels refined and polished. It isnt perfect, but is the closest thing available.
In the career mode GRID World, the aim is to climb the ranks. Simple aspects are introduced as the seasons progress, such as choosing sponsors and selecting a team mate. This is all done in a fashion not to overwhelm the player, and provides more objectives to chase. One great innovation in GRID world is the fact that progression is entirely dependant on the player There are a total of 51 trophies to win, spread across Japanese, US & European racing. An almost unlimited amount of Driver Offers are also available, where specific criteria has to be met in order to win the cash.
Purists may complain there isnt more to tinker with (as all management is done above the bonnet); but this is all about fun.
Not every event in GRID has to be won. For example, if Drift isnt your thing then the whole section can be ignored and reputation points earned elsewhere. As your fame increases, so does your surroundings. Grids menu system is one of the most streamlined I've ever seen. Everything feels like a physical part of the world, viewed from inside the team garage. The whole thing is incredibly detailed.
One of GRIDs most innovative features is the ability to rewind crashes. A superb feature, again one that can be ignored, but helps prevent habitual replays. It doesent destroy the tension or that sense of accomplishment. The graphics are sensational, particularly in HD.
Just buy.
Best driving game yet on the PS3
I read a few negative reviews and was slightly wary before purchasing this game, I need not have worried as this is the best driving game yet on the PS3. The handling isnt vague or difficult as described its an arcadey style of scene but the handling is very realistic and sim like, I have played the GTR, GTR2 series race sims on the pc for years and the handling for rear wheel drive super/muscle cars is spot on. I suspect all the gripes have come from Gran Turismo, Need for speed, Crash Burnout etc fans who dont have the patience to learn how to drive properly its absolute tosh that the handling is too sensitive. Anyone who enjoys real sims and also the F1 on PS3 and can be bothered to spend a few hours learning how to control the cars will love this. The graphics and fluidity are superb the only cheesy let down is the save your bacon replays, overall the best yet blows everything else away.
