Manufacturer's Description
Conveniently store and charge two Xbox 360 Wireless Controllers with Nyko's Charge Base 360. The Charge Base 360 comes with two custom NiMH rechargeable batteries that feature special contact points allowing for an easy drop-in and charge power solution for your wireless controllers.
The dual port recharging dock is AC powered, and plugs into any standard outlet, requiring no cables back to the 360 console. Each rechargeable battery powers the wireless controller for up to 25 hours, and charges a single battery in 2 hours, or both batteries simultaneously in 4. The Charge Base 360 is the ideal charging solution for all Xbox 360 owners.
Customer Reviews
Could not be better
This is an example of one of those products which you buy and don't look back. The problem is it's also one of those products which you buy and then completely take for granted, so I am betting that there are many more happy customers out there who have not written reviews.
The Nyko Xbox 360 Charge Base does exactly what it says on the tin. You use a modified Nyko battery in your controller, and because they have contacts on the back which marry up with contacts in each of the charge bases's two slots, all you need to do to charge a controller is pop it in a slot. The charge base has two slots and two Nyko batteries are supplied.
The unit has two LEDs on the front, one on the left for the front slot and one on the right for the rear slot. These show red when a controller is charging, green for a short while after full charge has been reached, and then turn off. The Nyko base unit appears to detect a full charge and turns off the current to the relevant slot to prevent overcharging, which is a nice feature.
I don't think you will ever wear down a battery completely as the manufacturer claims they are good for 25 hours of gaming, so generally they are topping up their charge when you put them back in the base unit. Full charge takes very little time at all. Because the batteries are NiMH they will not develop memory effect as quickly or to the same extent as other types of rechargeable battery, and if their useful output time is shortened by memory effect then they can be charge-cycled to fix this (full discharge, full charge, full discharge, full charge).
The build quality of the unit feels good; it may be made from tacky plastic but it feels solid enough. A nice feature is that the bottom of the base has two square rubber patches on it to stop sliding, scratching, or annoying vibrations.
All-in-all this was £20 well-spent and if I pick up any more wireless controllers, I will be buying another of these bad boys.
XBox Essential
Quality product charges extremely quickly with big led indicator that only displays when charging (does not constantly display that it has charged). Essential buy.
360 charge base
Easy to set up and works well, controllers always appear charged and it also gives a place to keep them.
Good price also
