While on an interplanetary family vacation, the young boy Opoona crash lands on Planet Landroll after his spaceship is involved in a mysterious accident. Separated from his family, Opoona is forced to live alone. On the planet, Opoona must find a job, search for his siblings, and defend himself and the people of Landroll against creatures known as the Dark Rogues. Luckily for Opoona, he is the descendant of a long line of warriors known as the Cosmo Guards. Thus, Opoona's adventure begins as he struggles to establish a new life and reunite his family.
The game's action-oriented battle system lets players use powerful "Energy Bonbons" against their enemies. Using just the Nunchuk, players can manipulate an Energy Bonbon's trajectory in a number of different ways. All of Opoona's commands are also controlled by the Nunchuk, to allow a complete "single-hand control" of the game.
Opoona is not just about battling; it is a "Lifestyle RPG." As Opoona, players must adapt to a new environment, meet new people, and contribute to society through work, all while becoming aware of the precious world and people around him. As the game progresses, Opoona will develop relationships and uncover a broader range of activities including new jobs and clues to new adventures.
The unique characters and a modern fantasy world created by Art Director, Shintaro Majima, are sure to fascinate gamers. From futuristic buildings to ancient ruins and strange rock formations in the wild, the world of Opoona is a remarkable fusion of both contemporary design and whimsical fantasy.
Developed by ArtePiazza, the team behind four instalments of the best-selling Dragon Quest series of RPGs, Opoona showcases the talent of some of today's most creative game designers including Art Director Shintaro Majima, Planning Director Sachiko Sugimura, and Composer Hitoshi Sakimoto, acclaimed for his contribution to the Final

A very quirky and fun RPG
Opoona is a game that would best described as quirky - it's an RPG, but not your typical sort. It would best appeal to the Animal Crossing/Harvest Moon crowd. It feels very laid-back and relaxed, and there's a wide range of things for you to do that you can take your time doing.
One of the things that makes Opoona unique is that in the process of your adventures you can choose from a variety of different jobs, both to make money and to help move the plot along. For instance, you can find work as a waiter in a fast-food restaurant or hotel; you can also try your hand at gardening, fishing, and even at times find yourself working in a mine. At the same time, your primary job is always to protect the people of the land you find yourself in from the monsters that lurk around outside.
On your travels you'll also meet many different people that you can befriend, and who may need help with various tasks or to solve their problems. If you take the time to build relationships with the characters you meet, there are often rewards in terms of access to items and resources you otherwise wouldn't have had.
Having said all that, like other 'ordinary' RPGs the game has a plot that steadily moves along, and there's an overall goal to be achieved - you always know ultimately what you're supposed to be working towards at any given time. But usually there's no pressure to do one particular thing to the exclusion of all others - you can enjoy your time however you like.
The game does have one or two things that some people might find annoying or off-putting, though. As with any RPG, you do periodically find yourself having to fight monsters. However, the battles are random - that's to say, there's not set places where you'll see a group of creatures along the road, and so you walk up to them and a fight starts. Instead, you'll be walking along and suddenly a battle will start with no warning.
These random battles happen in almost all of the outdoor areas, and can take place at any time, and in any place. At first, this can be fun and can keep you on your toes, but it can also get irritating - especially when you're trying to get from A to B and keep getting interrupted by many battles you don't want to fight, or which no longer give you any worthwhile rewards.
Secondly, there's no voice acting at all - no character ever speaks, or makes any noise. The musical score of the game is excellent, though, as is its graphical style - both are very charming and enjoyable. But at times, the total lack of sound from the characters can make things feel a little flat.
So, if you want a game that contains some elements similar to AC or Harvest Moon, but which has a bit more depth in terms of having a plot and a definite goal you have to work towards, then you should consider buying Opoona. And even if you're not a fan of those, but are looking for an RPG that offers something different, then you might want to take a look too.
Highly recomended and very fun RPG
I found that this game is most likely the best game there can be on the Wii. There is so much stuff that you can do in the game with all the jobs and then there are all the cool characters as well.
When you see srceenshots of the game you may think that the graphics look really poor but it is a case that the textures in the game are really detailed and colourful.
The music with this game is probably one of the big plus points as almost every area has a different track to it and they all are classy pieces of music.
The battle system within the game is realy good but confusing for the first few battles, but not to worry before your first mission there are "tests" which are basically tutorials which will give you the basics of the battle system.
If you are loking for a game that will last a long time then this game will give you that. It took me almost 20 hours before all the siblings were renunited and as i've already said there is so much that you can do. also this game is really cute as well which may put some people of.
Not impressed.
This game sounded really good on paper and the cartoony graphics did remind me of Fisherprice characters but sadly i didn't like it. It got confusing to navigate around and (as others have mentioned) there was too much space. The characters were ok but i did wish they made some sort of noise when they spoke. I didn't think the music was that good really. I got bored very quickly and when reading other reviews, it mentions about random battles i knew this game had to be traded in! i hate games where you randomly go into battle when you are trying to do something else e.g. Pokemon!.
The graphics were cute but this alone is not enough to warrant my time to play through the whole game. i do love quirky games and i love RPG's but sadly this was disappointing.
Oh but one good thing - this game did have some sound effects coming through the Wiimote which i think is an under used feature of the Wii!
