The 2006 Lebanese-Israeli conflict is the setting for this visceral and riveting drama which follows a mother's frantic search for her lost child amongst Lebanon's bomb-scarred ruins. Desperate to reach the small town where her son has been staying with her sister, the anxious Zeina enlists the help of cynical cab driver Tony to take her on the dangerous journey into a battle-ravaged landscape, where they encounter death and destruction at every turn. Shot in the immediate aftermath of the catastrophic bombardment using actual locations, 'Under the Bombs' vividly captures the turmoil and ravages of war with extraordinary realism.

Under the Bombs [DVD] [2007]
Lebanese films can't help but be affected by the precariousness of the Lebanon's position in the Middle East- and this film, like so many others is about loss and death. What makes it different from a number of the other films available is the sub context of the friendship between a middle class woman and a working class man, as they struggle to gain a better understanding of their respective positions. I would recommend it for its openness in handling the complexities of the society it gives a window onto.
Extremely powerful and touching
Very nice piece of art. The extensive use of real images, shot just a couple of days after the cease fire add a dimension of reality to it that you can't sense in any other movie. Instead of choosing a side, the movie depicts the suffering and life post-war. A must see for people who want to sense what lies behind 2-minute televised news items. Impression of this movie will last for days.
Very Raw, Hugely Touching
Nothing is more dramatic than a movie shot while war is going on, under the bombs literaly. With scenario written often on the set itself, it is a human story in a war surrounding played by talented actors. All in all makes for a great movie experience.
