Customer Reviews

What no titles?...3
Ok, there are some great things about the game and some not so great so here we go...

Good Points

- Ultimate X is amazing and nicely put together
- Good Roster
- Brilliant graphics to rival the WWE Smackdown Vs Raw series of games
- Lots of Arenas

Bad Points

- NO Title Belts
- Very limited move sets
- Dodgy controls to get used to
- Limited match types
- Poor storyline in career mode
- Poor CAW
- No Knockouts (Women Wrestlers)

Overall

Ok so there are more bad points than good. Midway have had over 2 years to create the game and NO titles and limited move AND match types....I mean come on!

The graphics are however pretty damn good, the Ultimate X is there, fantastic roster and some great fun to be getting on with.

Overall I'm gonna give it 3 and a half out of 5. (Wont let me do half a star on the above meter rating.)

Good game, but with over two years to make it....should have been a hell of alot better!

Cheers for reading. Please rate if this helped you in making a decision on buying the game! :)

Appalling1
I was very excited to hear about a TNA game being released and was in total awe with the graphics after reading the reviews in various game magazines. I could not wait to buy this game.

I walked in to my local Gamestation to purchase this. As I was leaving, the cashier said to me 'See you in a few hours.' I wasn't sure what he meant by this and hurried home excitedly.

The PS3 installation took around half an hour. Yes, half an hour! As the game finally loaded I went straight to the exhibition match option. Hang on. Where are all the wrestlers? I was given the option to choose from around ten wrestlers. Yes, ten! I found that to be highly frustrating. So I picked Sting for me and Shark Boy as my whipping boy.

The entrances lasted for around ten seconds each which is rubbish. Ding! Ding! Off it goes in to Mortal Kombat on LSD! The action was so fast it was unrealistic. The simplist of moves requires you to press all sorts of buttons which you do not have the chance to do due to the super-fast action! For example, if you want to Irish Whip someone on Smackdown Vs Raw you press the circle button. Simple. On TNA you have to L1+triangle+direction. You have to press these three otherwise it will not work. But it wont work anyway as every move you try to do will be reversed without question. I tried this game for two hours and not once did I win. Like I said, every moved was reversed and the computer will pull off some amazing moves that require you to do some amazingly complex button combinations if you want to do the same. But you don't have the time to do it.

I took it back to Gamestation a few hours later and finally realised what the cashier was talking about. He was there and said 'I told you. It's rubbish. You can't do any moves.' I exchanged it for a better game.

Save yourself some money. DO NOT BUY!

Having played the game at a Midway press conference5
Having played the game at a Midway press conference, all I can say is I was very impressed.

The gameplay is fluid, and light years ahead of the Smack down vs. Raw series. This game is going to be the best wrestling game since No Mercy on the N64.

The new options are fantastic especially the Ultimate X match, this is by far the best type of match I have ever played on a wrestling game. Lots of the TNA roster put a lot of effort into building this game, both through motion capture (which is obvious from how good the game looks) to the drawing board stage. These young guys like the champion Joe, and AJ Styles are hardcore gamer so know what gamers want, and their influence is clear and certainly paid off.

I would highly recommend this title, even based on the early version I played. I would recommend it no only to TNA fans, and not just WWE fans either (even though there is a lot for you as well with familiar faces such as Kurt Angle, Christian, Booker T, Rhino, Scott Steiner, The Dudley boys (Team 3D), Jeff Jarret, Sting, Christy Hemme and Tomko in the game) But to any fans of fighting games in general. You could even go as far to recommend it to all gamers, even if the fighting genre is not your think you may wish to check out this title because it really is a breath of fresh air, and an all round good game.

You can be confident it will be money ell spent, happy grappling.
