What World are some people Living on?
I bought this, because i like the film and it was the extended edition, which i find far more satisfying than the theatrical edition. If it had been the theatrical edition i wouldn't have touched it.
The main principle of blu ray is better picture, better sound, which is achieved here.
If you only buy films for extras Stick with the DVD,
but if like me you just love the film ,then this is top notch.
for people to say the picture is no better than an upscaled DVD is a joke, I watched the DVD version and the picture is shocking, one of the worst DVD transfers I think I've seen, its only because I bought a bigger TV that i've come to notice these things otherwise I probably would've agreed it is no better. The sound is superb, but then again it always has been, Its a brilliantly sound designed film. and with the DVD offering a choice of sound options it is pretty hard to top.
The blu ray picture is impressive, its not perfect, but i don't think i've seen any film thats older than say 5 years that is. it is the best i've seen this film look by a long shot.
The sound is just amazing thats all i can say, it truly is ear orgasm material, it is an improvment over the DVD , alot cleaner and more thump to it. my only complaint is there isn't a 6.1 or 7.1 channel.
As for Extras, is i previously stated, i bought this because of the film, i've seen enough making of's special effect specials, script comparisons etc over time. i don't think there is anything that hasn't been said already, and is there much left unsaid? i very much Doubt it.
Best HD release of Terminator 2 available in terms of A/V quality.
Not every film is going to look like Ratatouille in Blu-ray. This is an older film and thus the master is not as pristine as more recent movies. Until an extensive remaster is done, this is the best it will be for T2.
For T2 fans this is currently the ultimate version of T2 available in HD. It has better video quality than the USA HD release as well as the German Kinowelt release. The former suffers from much more compression artifacts while the latter has some aspect ratio issues and also is overprocessed.
This Blu-ray edition is the extended cut of T2 that most fans seem to prefer, unlike the USA edition which is the theatrical version. While it has no extras, the video quality is the best we have seen yet for this movie. The audio quality is also the best we've heard, with a 5.1 DTS-HDMA lossless soundtrack. While the domestic version boasts a "6.1" Dolby Digital EX track and the German version has a 7.1 track, the actual original master elements are only in 5.1 for this title - therefore the domestic/German versions artificially created rear channels that were not in the original movie soundtrack, You can use rear channel processing in your receiver if you want with this version for your rears to be active and get the same effect as the 6.1/7.1 versions - however be aware that this movie was only originally mixed for 5.1 channels and thus the added channels may be artificial in nature.
This Blu-ray does have inferior extra features, however if you are a T2 movie fan it is still the best version of the movie to buy. In the end, I'd much prefer best A/V quality to extras, and that being the case this version is therefore the one to buy. I subtracted a star for lack of extras.
