but short. Graphically this is the best Cabela's game in the UK to date. African Safari had so much repetitive landscape it was like they used the same map to represent the whole of Africa, but Big Game Hunter puts you in a lot more various terrain from springtime in Ethiopia to the harsh winter of Argentina. The slow-mo/adrenaline mode is fun and bullet-time kills when you get a perfect shot are very gratifying, however because only 5/10 levels put you against life-threatening animals the rest is just target practice and will have you breeze through it in 3-4 hours.

This gets the Achievement Hoarders seal of approval though, with the full 1000 points coming from that 1 play through.

Furry animals are no match for hot lead, bolts or knives...5
I love hunting and I love hunting games. The only thing that puts me off is when I tell people about the fun I had with Big Game Hunter they think I said I had fun with a big gay munter. If I had a penny every time this has happened I would be not much better off. However, this game is so much fun!

The game can be completed very quickly, and nabbing achievements is easy too if thats your bag, but if you like shooter games then give this a try. Shooting people in games has become almost as natural as breathing, shooting an innocent animal stirs other emotions inside more than shooting a 'human' opponent does.

The hunting aspects have been dumbed down for this release, as opposed to the original xbox version, gone is the factoring in of wind direction affecting your scent to be replaced by a vicinity system. This has got rid of taking the stealth route to the target and is reduced to just a straight line stalk, shame!

Also, what gets right up my nose is the invisible barriers in the game. Lazy programming to block off routes that the developer doesn't want you take is not good! The fun of shooting though soon puts this to the back of your mind when hunting animals and shooting birds.

This game also makes me suffer in another regard. Similar to racing games or games where a degree of concentration is required, I end up with a condition known as IF, itchy face. At crucial times, say, last lap in front but closely followed, lining up a foe in sniper mode or shooting at a critter in this game, I get a little itch in random places about my face, breaking concentration as I slap the affected area, not good, but not the games fault.

Also, the animation of the animals is only workable and not convincing, but if you have ever tried to glue ping pong balls to a Kudu, you would understand. Try this game, it is fun!
