Worked a treat
Have a WD essential 320gb that does not work with supplied cable in my older Dell Inspiron 8600. The Dell's USB sockets are an older profile (not USB2) and so did not supply enough power to work properly.

This cable allowed me to draw power from both USB sockets and power the external hard drive, and the drive works perfectly.

Bought as a bit of a punt as I had conflicting reports, usually from inexperienced or ill informed sales assistants about the ability to operate a USB2 drive through the older USB sockets. But long of the short of it was the drive was instantly available on the My Computer page, and folders (large amounts of backed up media) were simply dragged across to the desired computer file. Everything worked as advertised.

Excellent value for money
I bought this cable to replace a lost dual USB cable for my SimpleTec 250GB external hard drive and it works brilliantly. Good service and great price. It would have cost me ten times as much at Maplins.

Excellent
Excellent value for money but I didn't realise that the two USB plugs were so close together. This therefore didn't work for my daughter for whom I had bought it since her USB ports were on opposite sides of her laptop and so wouldn't reach! Just swapped hers for mine and it is all now fine. Just watch out for where your USB ports actually are.
