Dangerously Good Fun!
I recently purchased 'The Dangerous Book For Boys Game' as a birthday present for my son. What an inspired choice this was! It was a real treat to play a game which is challenging, fun, straightforward and exciting.
Just like the book, you are always learning something new, as well as having the opportunity to develop skills and techniques that boys of all ages would be proud to know! I highly recommend it as a present for all the family to get together and enjoy!
In terms of specifics the game involves being the first to complete the building of a raft inorder to leave a desert island. To do this you need to complete a series of mental and skill challenges, by collecting raft pieces, whilst protecting your own safe passage, by amassing 'resource' cards. All the while you are outwitting your opponents attempting to do the same, by throwing them off course and then using 'resources' at appropriate moments.
As board games go, it is very simple to follow; involves brainpower, dexterity and skill. Even when it's not your turn, you feel that you are learning something new. It's many faceted and three dimensional; you are constantly being asked to undertake something different and challenging.
The Dangerous Book For Boy's Game is a real 'breath of fresh air'.
Old fashioned fun!
I bought this for my nine year old son at Christmas and we have played it every weekend since! It's great fun for all ages...girls and boys...and educational at the same time. It helps if you've been a Girl Guide or Boy Scout but it's not essential! None of my son's friends had played it before (they all had electronic games for Christmas!) but they all loved it...and always ask to play it whenever they come round for tea.It makes a refreshing change from seeing them on their Nintendo Wii's or Playstations!
Excellent
Bought three of these at reduced price, for stock cupboard for boys Birthday presents, I thought I would take the chance at such a good price.
The whole family has played twice today ( my son is 9), and we have thoroughly enjoyed it.
Some challenges are quite difficult for a 9 year old, but this is avoidable and we had great fun, making airplanes and completing challenges. Girls may not enjoy as much as boys, but family interaction was superb , and educational aswell!
