Manufacturer's Description
Take on the fight as the volatile Sergeant "Psycho" Sykes in a new parallel story taking place during the events of Crysis. Psycho's secret mission will take him to the other side of the island on a ruthless pursuit of a North Korean general hell-bent on obtaining powerful technology. With the versatile powers of his Nanosuit and an arsenal of fully customizable weapons & vehicles at his disposal, Sykes will do whatever it takes to carry out his top-secret objective.

Action on the other side of the island is more intense, the battles are fierce, and the mission protocol is no longer "Adapt to Survive". As Sergeant Sykes, now you must adapt to dominate the battle. Twin SMG's blazing, seizing new vehicles, or going stealth, the action and the victory is on your terms.

Customer Reviews

Beware what you are buying into, horrible DRM!1
Yes this is a great game, no doubting that. What you may not know and isn't disclose at all on the game description or packaging, is the inclusion of intrusive DRM/Securom that is used to enforce a 5 time activation limit.

What triggers an activation:

-Installing the game on a new computer
-Installing the game on a new operating system
-Playing the game under a different window user account than the account which was used to install the game
-Formatting your hard drive
-Upgrading your computer

The trigger is so sensitive and invasive, even attaching an external Hard Drive may trigger an activation.

Do not confuse activation with installation, you are free to install and uninstall all you want, providing you don't trigger and use all 5 activations.

What does this mean for you, the end user/consumer? They EA, the publisher dictates your rights as a consumer, controlling how you use a product you own and profiting from this. Once you've used up your activations, you will be at the mercy of EA, paying to call EA customers support to beg for permission to play a game you own. EA holds the power and discretion whether to warrant you a new activation or not. The activation server could eventually be shut down, preventing you from playing your game. EA doesn't respect and trust their customers so they cripple their games with invasive DRM, why then should you trust EA you'll be able to freely continue play this game without limitations? All the points mentioned above shows there is no guarantee you'll be able to continue playing the game in the near future.

This also infringe on your liberty to pass on or resell the game, as there is no incentive for the 2nd user or buyer. Lending the game to your siblings or friends will also penalise you.

In essence you are not paying for a full game, just a glorified rental!

Great game - idiotic DRM1
Crysis Warhead is a great game - amazing I could say. The graphics are fantastic, the gameplay on a par with Crysis - there really is nothing I can possibly fault.

The DRM forced upon you when you install Warhead is insane. The DRM is turning away potential customers while the pirates can play without the EA malware being installed on your PC.

If this 'pseudo-virus' was mentioned on the retail box I would never have purchased this game and I will never purchase another EA game as long as I live.

Avoid Crysis Warhead. Avoid EA. Avoid potentially illegal, non-optional and damaging malware disguised as anti-piracy measures.

An achievement by Crytek...an insult from EA4
Warhead is an exceptional game: breathtaking graphics, captivating plot and above all, awe-strikingly fun.

The problems however, arose the moment EA laid their hands on this masterpiece-to-be. Failing to notice those terrifying words, 'internet connection required for product activation', I was bound to be in for a rough ride. Installation was slow yet suspenseful, as I knew something just had to go wrong. 30 minutes later and hey presto! SecuRom. May I add at this point that I don't have an internet connection, so I was forced (ashamedly) to download a crack containing the paul.dll and the exe file, making me a reluctant criminal. May I also add I own a legal copy of this game for which I payed £20. Installing any EA game these days feels like being electronically violated; they're so kind as to give you an EA download manager that assists you in making purchase of future EA games easier, blummin cheeky if you ask me.

After some amount of forum surfing I finally managed to get the game up and running, welcomed with an uncontrollable feeling of pleasure and excitement. Goodbye EA, hello Crytek. User Interface is tidier and faster with an enhanced theme tune. After a few clicks I was ready to go, and what a journey I was in for!

Everything about Warhead is either on par with the original, or much better. Sharper graphics, more motion blur, new weapons, more immersive. This game is flawless. I was tempted to knock the rating down to three stars but decided against it in honor of Crytek's great work. Yes EA deserve a slapped bottom but the game is essentially what we are reviewing here.

I advise caution if buying the game that there may be a problem here and there but once up and running it's worth every penny. If you owned Crysis, DEFINITELY buy this. If you've never played Crysis before, Warhead is a standalone so you can buy it anyway!
