Long overdue CD issue for this British funk classic4
Anyone familiar with LOTW and their sound will want to snap up this classic album - it is undoubtedly one the best soul/funk albums Britain has ever produced and certainly worth more than the modest asking price.

However, it is unfortunate that EMI's reissue team have once again let themselves down with a flat, rough-sounding transfer that doesn't do justice to Augie Johnson's crisp upfront production. Interesting as it is to hear LOTW/Beggar & Co/Funk Jazz Collective's poorly recorded recent live recordings included here as bonus tracks, it surely would have been better to include the blistering original 12" mixes.

All credit to EMI for making this available but like Johnnie Taylor's 'What About My Love" CD issue and the recent 2-CD Capitol Disco compilation it presents another wasted opportunity by EMI to cash-in on their vast back catalogue and wealth of sonic expertise.

about time4
Great album - the pioneers of Brit funk at their best. Time (live) is superb but disappointed in Somebody help me out! just over 1 minute live - seems little point. It would be great to get a whole live set from them - come on guys, how about it?

We love jazz funk & the 80's4
Oh yes, Light of the World are very much back in our heads. The fact that the 80's revival is kickin at the moment means that many of our favorite tracks that we loved first time around are now available again and this LP is living proof of it. The best track they ever did is 'London Town', smooth, classy, funky and makes me proud to be a londoner. 'Time' is a head nodder of neck aching proportions and 'I shot the sheriff' despite its bemusing topic is still cool. This album represents where UK Jazzfunk was at its peak in the 80's, i still play my full length 12" of "Time" and to have the album again makes me smile. One point to notice is that the vocals from LOTW were and still aren't great but hey the backing tracks are so just buy it. Now!!
