one of the 80's best soul albums
BB&Q bands Genie album is easily their best and also happens to be their last as after the unfortunate death of co-founder jacques petri a couple of yrs later in 1988 the group disbanded. Originally created as an offshoot of band "Change" BB&Q had enough of their own hits to be more than just a side project.
Genie was written and produced by kae williams of rare groove outfit breakwater and its a great great album which has only just been re-issued onto cd!
It contains the classic tracks..Dreamer , Genie and Riccochet but the whole album is great with no filler tracks at all! The back cover says that it contains the original album version of "Dreamer" but it's actually the superior extended 12" shep petibone remix which was highly regarded as being one of the best 12"s of that year,so infact the album is better than it appears !
In the linear notes,stock aitkin and waterman tell how they were floored by the production on the album and mirrored some of the sounds and style on princess's say im your no 1 single !
A must for any 80's soul fan!
