    Improvements over 2005 version5
This 2007 version has two improvements over the 2005 version. Firstly, you can now shuffle the tiles on the rack manually as well as the random shuffle. Secondly, the dictionary includes definitions. When your electronic opponent puts down a crazy word, at least you can easily look up what it means! There are probably many other improvements but,for me, those two alone made the upgrade worthwhile.

    Scrabble's Collins Dictionary Grossly Incomplete3
I am very disappointed with two aspects of this Scrabble game:
    1. Each time you play you have to choose your opponent, time, everything; previous PC Scrabbles have allowed you to set up profiles such that a particular profile could have a "preferred opponent" when playing against the computer. This version of Scrabble does not allow that. You have to choose each time you start the program.
    2. The program uses Collins dictionary, but apparently that dictionary is grossly incomplete, excluding all too many ordinary English words but including how ever many "rare" words from "dead" languages and alphabets.

I like the feature of being able to limit your game to the amount of time you want to spend at the computer. I don't like the cluttering of the screen when the dictionary is viewable. I also do not like the fact that the meaning of some words played by the computer and considered valid in the game can NOT be found in the dictionary! -- Is the computer cheating???

I actually like the Scrabble 2005 more than the Scrabble 2007; the only real disadvantage is that for the 2005 Scrabble I have to actually put the CD in the PC inorder to access the game, where as I have been able to load Scrabble 2007 onto my PC and simply have to click the icon to play!--This makes a speedy game possible when time is short...

Pretty good but one weird thing4
I haven't had a pc version before, and just got back into scrabble after playing online.
I like the graphics and the 'mentor' mode where you get suggested words with scores, but I don't like the way it takes up the whole screen with no menu bar, and, presumably so you can see other running applications, it minimises itself every couple of minutes - distracting to say the least.
Or maybe that's just in Vista? That apart, it's good for playing on your own.
