Still great fun...
OK, so as you may have guessed the latest version of Monopoly for Playstation doesn't offer online play. This does seem like a strange ommision for a game made for the most powerful games machine in the world. But then was Monopoly ever going to be the game you bought a PS3 for? I bought this as a replacement for Monopoly Party (PS2) and it's more than up to the job. The graphics are better, although not as good as I would have expected. The main improvement for me is the gameplay. Even in standard mode, the game is much quicker. There's no more sitting around watching the boot slowly hop it self around to Mayfair. There are a wide variety of different boards to play with, which you unlock by winning games or buying certain properties. There aren't many family games for my PS3, but this has earned a place inbetween Singstar and Buzz.
No online play..unbelievable.
I thought the last review was perhaps a little harsh , yes there is a lack of options and the music is annoying but it is still great fun to play especially with friends. It doesnt have the fun animated features of the ps2 monopoly party but does have loads more boards that have to be unlocked and a variety of little minigames as well as the new richest monopoly game. It is still great fun if you like Monopoly and playing with friends. The biggest disapointment of all was the lack of an online mode where you could play with other people online instead of playing cpu players. I took it for granted that this would be a feature for this latest venture on to the next gen consoles but was wrong. Come on EA. Could have been so much better but its not the worst family game on ps3.
Do Not Buy
For all lovers of this classic please listen up, this game is the poorest game i have played on the ps3.There are no options at all apart from turn off subtitles!!! You cannot even save your profile or turn off the ridiculous music that constantly plays throughout...Biggest turn off for me is that if you don't buy you have to auction(even though at the start it gives the option to turn off)I had this on the ps2 and the old version was excellent. Please EA stick to sport games. I will be taking this game back after only buying it this morning.
