Ease-Of-Use
Digital radios are much easier to use than analogue radios because they automatically search for all available stations. Once the radio has found all the available stations you just choose the one you want by name. No more trying to remember frequencies.
Wider Station Choice
With up to 55 DAB stations available in many areas, and more on the way, you’ll be spoilt for choice. As well as existing favourites like BBC radios 1-4, BBC radio 5 live, Classic FM and talkSPORT, there are also great exclusive-to-digital stations such as BBC 1Xtra, BBC 5 live Sports Extra, BBC 6 Music, BBC 7 and Planet Rock.
Digital Sound Quality
DAB is crackle-clear and hiss-free because its not subject to the same interference as analogue radio.
DAB Stations
There's more listening choice on DAB too. These great stations and many more are available in the UK on DAB digital radio. As DAB coverage varies, remember to check which stations are available in your area.

Cracking upgrade on an already cracking radio
I was already the proud owner of the original One and loved the stations it could pick up and the sound was amazing. So I went for the new One Classic expecting some improvements and I was completely blown away. I get teh same stations of course, but the new soft finish is gorgeous, plus it's got an iPod input. Somehow the battery life seems to have improved as well, as I've move my PURE chargepack over to the new radio and get's longer per charge.
Now I've passed my old One on to my sister so she's happy too!
A good radio
The Pure One Classic is my first DAB radio. I bought it from Amazon to replace my old Sony portable whose rechargeable batteries forever need changing, frustratingly just when I'm listening to something special! I also bought the Pure ChargePAK which fits inside a compartment in the back of the radio. It costs not much more than 2 sets of 4 rechargeable AA batteries and a charger. Fantastically it recharges whenever the radio is connected to the mains even when the radio is turned off so I keep the radio connected to the mains and simply pull out the plug at the back of the radio when I want to use it as a portable in the bathroom or shed etc.
The on/off button is the medium size button bottom right in the photo. The large knob is the volume knob.
To select or set the functions of the radio one simply presses one of the small silver buttons surrounding the large central knob then turn the large central knob clockwise to scroll through the options of that particular button. To select the required option just press the large central knob inwards. - Dead easy!
The reception is good both in DAB and FM and the sound quality is really good especially when the bass and treble are tweaked to taste. The written instructions are good and clear. I enjoy the scrolling text advising of the current programme.
I chose the white colour option which fits in very comfortably in the bathroom, kitchen and bedroom - much better than black. It also has a kitchen timer, an alarm function and a socket for playing an MP3 player although I haven't used these yet.
I find myself listening to this radio much, much more than previously (I'm listening to it now in the background while I'm typing this) and without fear of the batteries running out. I really enjoy this radio. It is a November 2008 Which? magazine Best Buy so you can't really go wrong. I recommend it.
More and less good than the old model
Got this to augment an original One radio. You now get a line input for your MP3 player, a rubbery finish, supposedly better battery life, a wake up alarm and future DAB+ compatibility. However, sound quality is not quite as good (even though you now get a bass and treble control from within a menu). The big downer is that the previous models exceptional ability to deal with weak DAB signals has been reduced. If you are in a marginal reception area you are more likely to get the dreaded "bubbling mud" than with the old model. So if you just want a straight radio without the line-in feature then the old model might be a better bet.
