Customer Reviews
early R&B sides need better restoration
Some wonderful music, but listeners used to top-quality restoration shouldn't expect hi-fi sounds - some of the transfers are very noisy indeed, almost to the point of being unlistenable. This applies to about 8-10 of the 56 tracks available here. These 78s are doubtless very rare, but material of a similar vintage has been restored better - on certain Ace releases for example. So, with that minor caveat, this is still a recommended release, especially since this repertoire - from an important label - hasn't been available before, since its original issue some 60-plus years ago.
