ESSENTIAL PURCHASE4
Madcatz Fightstick Tournament Edition

Seriously, this is the best arcade style control stick you can buy for the PS3.
I have absolutely caned this stick, the buttons are standing up well, the joystick itself still looks brand new. I have one of the latest models and Madcatz are now fully on top of their quality control. The turbo feature works perfectly, the buttons respond wonderfully and there is absolutely and positively no lag.

The build quality is outstanding. I put a lot of pressure on my peripherals, and the Hori Real Arcade lasted less than a month with me. The Madcatz Tournament Edition is a whole new ball game. The storage area for the cable is perfect, the door hinges upward, revealing a solid base you can us for clamping the unit to a table. I have it clamped to a bench in my front room (very understanding girlfriend) and it is absolutely rock solid. The weight of the unit is reasuring, and serviceability is a million miles better than any Hori stick. THis is the closest you can get to an arcade cabinet in your house, and miles better in my estimation, cos I get to sit on a sofa!

The price is a stone cold bargain, if you look at the price compared to the number of sticks you will have to replace in the same time as owning this one. The only very minor negatives I would give are that the door for the connection cord is a little flimsy and the cord could do with being a few feet longer. Then again, I only say that cos even fully extended, it forces me to sit a little to close to my plasm screen TV (4 metres... big TV).

This is pretty much the best gaming purchase I have made this year. Until Modern Warfare 2 comes out that is!

Works well on a PC too4
I don't own a ps3 (i have bought the ps3 tournament version of the stick) and instead have a PC with windows vista ultimate. The stick was recognised straight out of the box and works extremely well. I had been using a wireless xbox controller which was fine, but this stick allows me to pull of moves with far greater precision and makes playing SF4 much more joyable.

The build quality seems very solid and I reckon the buttons can take a lot of punishment. I do think that paying £100 for a joystick is expensive, but if you're into the game then I'm sure that this will be soon forgotten.

All in all. Recommended.

sturdy stick5
This stick is huge and heavy but still comfortable when using it on your lap. Compared to an Hori real arcade pro. 3, the buttons are bit more sensible and the box is also more comfortable IMHO. The drapdoor for storing the wire is also nice.
