Synopsis
The cast of HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL better watch out, there's a new crop of uber-talented wannabes set to make their mark in the form of BRITANNIA HIGH. Set in a fictional performing arts school, the show follows the on and off stage drama of its staff and pupils; which include Mark Benton (THREE AND OUT), stage star Adam Garcia (COYOTE UGLY) and SKINS' Mitch Hewer. This set includes volume two of the first series.

Customer Reviews

Excellent programme4
Myself and my two daughters loved Britannia High. We can't understand why it has been axed after one series either.

We enjoyed the way each episode dealt with the problems of one character and we couldn't wait each week for the next episode.

I particularly think the songs were very good and I enjoy listening to them as much as my daughters.

Great British Series5
We loved this series so bought the dvd. I cant believe they have axed it after only one series, we would have loved to see it back for series 2.
The British version of High School Musical.

Britannia not so High2
"Britannia High" Series 1-Part 2 completes what will probably be the only series of this program, directed by Minkie Spiro and based on an original idea by Arlene Phillips and David Ian. Togther with Series 1-Part 1, the program tells the stories of six gifted students enrolled at Britannia High, an elite performing arts school in London.

Well cast and well filmed, "Britannia High" was obviously made at considerable expense. In every sense it is a lavish production but the story lines are thin. Arlene Phillips's choreography aand the score, written by major names in the pop world, provide the six young actors with more support than the story lines they are asked to develop.

Matthew James Thomas plays Jez, the gay son of a hard-nosed businessman who does not know his son, destined to run the family business, is at drama school. In many ways, Jez is the most developed character in the series. Mitch Hewer as Danny is given little to work with but his dancing is a highlight.

Sapphire Elia, Georgina Hagen and Marquelle Ward never move away from stereotypes and Rana roy is ittitatingly silly as Lola.

Given story lines with greater depth, "Britannia High" could have been an outstanding series - and then a Series Two may have been viable. As it stands, it is mildly diverting but certainly not memorable television.
