CD Description
This is a special issue CD commemorating the 50th anniversary of "The Day The Music Died".

It was late January, 1959, when the tragic Winter Dance Party began; a gruelling twenty-four day tour of the mid-west by a rock 'n' roll revue which included Buddy Holly and his group, J P "Big Bopper" Richardson and Ritchie Valens. Poorly funded and inefficiently organized, the tour began as a disaster and steadily got worse, with a motley succession of clapped-out coaches being the only transportation provided to the artists by the booking agency. Eleven days into the tour and facing another tortuous 400 mile road trip to the next venue on a freezing bus, Holly decided to charter a plane after their unscheduled appearance at Clear Lake, Iowa. He and the two other headliners took off for Fargo, North Dakota, in the teeth of a blizzard during the early hours of 3rd February 1959... it was a date that would come to be known as one of the darkest in the whole history of rock 'n' roll.

The Day The Music Died Relived.4
This CD includes a collection of the 3 rock 'n' roll stars that were killed in the plane crash just outside Clear Lake, Iowa.

Well known classics from the 3 rockers like: Chantilly Lace, La Bamba, Donna, Heartbeat, Come On Let's Go, It's So Easy & Rave On appear.

The Big Bopper's Purple People Eater meets The Witch Doctor is quite amusing and Little Red Riding Hood is a take off of the story.

Plus there are a few instrumental numbers from Ritchie when he was under the name of "Arvee Allens".

And to top it all off there are WDP promos from the 3 rockers PLUS 3 HIDDEN TRACKS THAT ARE NOT STATED ON THE TRACKLISTING OR THE BACK COVER.

There are 30 tracks in total on this CD, the ones listed on the back and the 3 hidden are news bulletins of the plane crash that took place on the 3rd Feburary 1959.

And in the inlay booklet is the article about the plane crash from the Clear Lake Mirror a few days after it took place.

I think this is ideal for a fan of this music and worth the release.

Halloooooooooooooo Baby4
A good CD to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the tragic deaths of three great 60's pop stars. All the hits of these three great entertainers. A good collector item for Holly fans.

As a long term fan of Buddy Holly I obviously had to add this to my collection.
An interesting compilation which gave me a greater insight to The Big Bopper who has sadly been overlooked out of the 3 stars who all passed away so tragically young.
Some really great music from all 3 artists, but I have one complaint which is the appalling quality of Richie Valens La Bamba which has been really badly mixed & is unlistenable.
This is my reason for only 4 stars but otherwise a superb effort by the El Toro label who have otherwise lovingly been restoring these tracks.
