Amazon.co.uk Review
One of the BBC’s most enduring and rightly-popular drama series, it’s to the credit of the writing team of Hustle that they continue to generate so many intriguing set-ups for its team of confidence tricksters to tackle. But with only one episode slightly below form in an-otherwise excellent series, the show remains one of the best contemporary dramas that the BBC produce.
The core set-up of Hustle is the same as before. There’s a gang of con artists, who continually get tempted by new scams and tricks, and are willing to travel the world to tackle them. Led by the likes of Adrian Lester (who returns after missing series four), Robert Glenister, the wonderful Robert Vaughn and new addition Kelly Adams, the Hustle crew also attract some welcome guest stars this time round. Bill Bailey, Tim McInnerny and Patrick Bergin are among the familiar faces that pop up.
The real stars of Hustle, though, are the tightly-plotted scams themselves, and there are some corkers in series five. We get, for instance, some malarkey with an MP, a bullion heist, a spider’s web and the weaker entry, involving a diamond necklace. For the bulk of the series, though, it’s great fun waiting for the rug to be pulled, and the run ends on a terrific high to lead us neatly towards the already-commissioned sixth season. Given the standards that Hustle predominantly maintains for series five, of which all six episodes are on this disc, that’s a very good thing. --Jon Foster
Synopsis
HUSTLE follows the exploits of five money-hungry grifters as they travel from the grey skies of London to the neon lights of Hollywood and Vegas. No scam is too risky, no double-cross too devious for this ambitious band of shysters. This release contains every episode from the show's fifth series.

Series 5 does it again!
If you have liked the Hustle series as much as I have then you will not be disappointed with this latest offering from the BBC.
Two new changes to the line up. Sadly, out go Jaime Murray and Mark Warren to be replaced by two new cast members which in no way diminishes the quality and output of this latest series. Also delighted to see Adrian Lester back in the lead role who in my opinion is a major part of the success of Hustle, along with great supporting roles by Robert Vaughn as Albert Stroller - the grand daddy of all conmen and Robert Glennister as Ash "three-socks" Morgan their ever resourceful fixer.
Viewers might rightly ask if the series is getting stale and tired? Not at all! The ingredients that have made Hustle successful in the past are still there with another series of slickly presented, great story lines, always with a twist in the tale, and a cast who performs well together to deliver another memorable series of great TV viewing!
Simply Brilliant!
An excellent comeback for BBC's Hustle. Despite major cast changes this series still delivers clever, slick and enjoyable episodes. The series opens with a great twist which smoothly introduces the two new characters who we see progress as grifters throughout the rest of the series. The return of Mickey (Adrian Lester) is brilliant despite the departure of Danny (Marc Warren) and Stacie (Jaime Murray). Hustle continues to impress as the greatest drama on the BBC.
A promising return to form
Jordan and co. bring the crew back for a fifth season that sees Lester makes a much welcome return to the series along with old friends Glenister and Vaughn and a couple of new characters to replace those that have departed while the show seeks to find a place for itself in a post credit-crunch world.
Lester acts like he never left as he re-stamps his essential leading presence on the new season with old hands Glenister and Vaughn falling easily back in to tow, and new comers Adams and Di Angelo quickly finding their feet after a fun intro episode as fill-ins for the departed Murray and Warren.
The creators are once again give a radically altered dynamic to have fun with and this time they even go so far as to pump in some sexual tension for their enigmatic leading man but although smooth cons and surprise twists are back after the scrabbling of the previous season the series glory days seem to be behind it.
Legging it is not an option.
