Just Doesn't Have That Vibe
I was really looking forward to Rock Band 2, hoping for great things, but sadly I was just met with a new version of Rock Band, which has new songs. OK, there's more venues and a heap more tracks, but the game graphics are the same, and it is just as easy as Rock Band, on easy I completed it within 4hrs or so, obviously I didn't do the 84 track endless gig in Shanghai, because that would be a 4hr stint on it's own.
There are some great tracks though, like AC/DC's Let There Be Rock, which has something like 4 solos so it's great for racking up the points; and classics like Pinball Wizard by The Who, which is great too. Real let downs include Beck's E-Pro, which has the same 4 chords for the chorus, and very little else - I guess it's more fun with the drums and mic - which I don't have.
The Kramer guitar from Guitar Hero 3 works with this very well, so there was no need for a new guitar, which is great news as they're quite expensive.
The bad things about this game is that some tracks are repeated from the last Guitar Hero game like Bon Jovi's Living on a Prayer - which is quite annoying when you've forked out £25 for this game. The good thing is that there are a lot of tracks, there are challenges to get new stuff, and there are venues and you can win goodies for the band, and the two player mode where you go head to head or just jam is cool, but I think this game comes into it's own when you have all 4 people rocking away on guitar, bass, drums and vocals; but sadly my friends don't have the gear and don't want to buy it, so it's mainly played just by me, or they take a turn to rock out.
If you have the drums you'll be happy to know there's a drum trainer, so you can practice to your heart's content.
I'm hoping for some cool new things in RB3, like rocking until the speakers blow - drum solos and maybe some cool jamming sessions and ad-libbing.
Worth a go if you like this sort of game.
Good fun!
This games is loads of fun specialy if you have a family and would be able to play it all together. There are loads of old and new songs some your dad mite no and some you mite no. you should buy this game. rock on!!
