A true return to form.
This may be the best series yet, as the episodes become more daring and inventive. As it reaches it's 100th episode, it retains all of the situation humour that has kept it going for the past nine years. In this series, Ben encounters a bully from years ago, Susan considers running away with a man she has met on holiday (guest John Barrowman), Michael appears to have become psychotic, and Alfie reveals how Blackberry Schnapps had him thrown out of his home village. The one letdown of the series was Janey, whose storylines revolve on the same, monotonous joke of her dating 10 men at the same time-can't the writers come up with something different? Roger is much funnier than he used to be, possibly because of Abi's absence, which to be honest, was long overdue.Having seriously slumped at around series six, the series has thankfully progressively picked itself back up. This sitcom will probably continue for many years to come, and if it remains this high quality, long may it!
Fab!
Discount the episode with John Barrowman (nothing against him, the plot is just silly!) and here is quite possibly one of the best series' so far. Having loved My Family since the very start, I was getting worried around series 5 that we would never again see the best of this great comedy series. Since then it has slowly got better and is right back at the top again. Ratings for the show are still very high so expect to see another few series' yet! Great DVD for a lazy afternoon, highly recommended!
Not quite the comedy gold as seen before.
The programme that is My Family was, to begin with, imaginative, funny and a programme that viewers could sit down and watch with their families.
I used to love it. I'm still a loyal viewer and have seen every episode several times. I own every series, but when people see my collection they often ask why.
Now before a couple of series ago, I defended the programme, saying it was still hilarious and still had moments of magic. But now?
It's just not the same. The programme feels stretched and over-used. The characters themselves even went on strike- unhappy with the standard of the scripts.
Now I will buy the product, but I WON'T be recommending it to anyone. If you're loyal to the series like me, and have some strange, My Family 'addiction'.. just satisfy your cravings and buy it!
