Digital TV
Between now and the end of 2012 the UK will be turning off all old “analogue” TV transmitters and switching your TV signal to “digital”. Digital TV offers new ways to enjoy your TV. You will have a greater choice of TV channels as well as access to additional features and services which will enhance your TV-watching experience.

When the digital switch happens in your area, your older analogue TVs will no longer be able to pick up a signal. To keep your normal TV service running, you will need to convert your TVs to digital before your area’s switchover date.

Active Vision
Active Vision is our acclaimed high performance picture processing system. It has been designed to produce high quality, high definition images by enhancing core elements of a television picture:

Detail: Images are now spread over a larger number of smaller pixels compared to a conventional LCD TV.

Colour: Active Vision reproduces colours with more tones than conventional LCD televisions, producing images with reduced banding for a smoother, more realistic colour progression.

Movement: Picture sharpness in fast moving scenes is increased, with a reduction in the jagged edges often seen on lines and fine detail.

Contrast: The monitoring and adjustment of contrast, enhances detail and increases the ability of the television to represent subtle shade changes.

Dynamic Contrast
Dynamic Contrast decreases the TV’s backlight brightness in dark scenes and increases brightness in highly-lit scenes. Getting the best picture detail requires the right balance between brightness and contrast, too much or too little of either is a problem.

Toshiba’s Dynamic Contrast technology automatically adjusts the LCD panel backlight, depending on the level of brightness required by the original signal. Dimming the backlight enables the system to reproduce fine detail and render dark scenes more realistically, with blacks having much greater depth. Increasing backlight brightness for scenes requiring more colour, produces more vibrant images with a greater intensity.

HDMI
Put simply, HDMI is the new industry standard for the connection of home entertainment equipment.

High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) connections between TV, DVD and other digital equipment are gradually replacing older SCART connections and make it possible to deliver high definition pictures and sound to your HD Ready TV.

Not bad for its price and size
I recently bought this LCD TV for a bedroom the set looks very good and would look good any where you put it .
The Picture is very good clear and sharp with good colour but its speakers let it down a little not good at reasonable volumes and would not be very good in a large room i have a sony 20" which has a far better speaker sytem.
Generally it very good tv easy to set up and looks good but the sound lets it down a little but it is a small TV at 19" otherwise i would recommend it.

Good picture, poor sound
Bought to replace a 15" Toshiba lcd used in the kitchen. Very easy to set up although the remote seems cheap and nasty when compared with Panasonic remotes.

The picture is a big improvement compared with the old set but the sound is worse. Would have given it five stars for the picture quality but the audio is very poor.

Perfect Bedroom Set
Having bought a 32" from Toshiba recently - i thought it would make sense to replace my old CRT in the bedroom with a nice little LCD. Looked at a few different TVs in local store and what struck me about this one was how much better the viewing angle was than some of the other models on display. The helpfull assistant told me that it was down to the other models using a non TV screen but a monitor screen! He said the easy was to work this out was if it was a 16:9 aspect ration or a 16:10. 16:9 is TV, 16:10 is PC. Just off angle the 16:10 really was poor. I was planning on buying in Amazon, but the guy was so helpful I coughed up the extra cash! Hope he was on commision. Having got the TV home, I was familar with the menus as I have the 32" version. It's not connected to anything other than the aerial, Freeview in the bedroom is a god send! Sky Sports news 24/7 if I want, whislt the Mrs watches X Factor re-runs! Menu is fast neat and simple to use. Sound is fine for a small TV. Really like the design of the TV as well, it's slightly different to the 32" version (not just in size :-)) It's got an HDMI connection which could be ideal to connect an X Box 360 to when I have to move from the living room when Strictly Come Dancing is on! Really pleased with this product and even the Mrs doesnt mind watching TV on it when I watch Match of the Day in the living room! As Freeview has all the radio stations I get crystal clear digtial radio in the bedroom, as well which is nice when you wake up - our old analogue alarm clock has been made redundent as we now listen to Radio 1 in lovely digital in the morning! At the price on Amazon you wont be disapointed!
