Ostensibly a funny animated film about a dog who thinks he has superpowers, Bolt is also a movie about friendship, perseverance, and the power of believing in oneself. Everyone knows that superheroes on television are not real, but TV star super dog Bolt (John Travolta) is a canine star who was carefully raised to believe that he really possesses superpowers. In true loyal canine style, Bolt is completely devoted to his human co-star Penny (Miley Cyrus). When Penny is captured by the evil Dr. Calico (Malcolm McDowell) in their latest television episode and Bolt gets accidentally let loose in the real world, he sets off on a journey to save her. Bolt is confounded when his super powers are suddenly ineffective, but inspiration strikes and Bolt quickly discovers the mysterious, power-stealing effects of Styrofoam packing peanuts. An encounter with alley cat Mittens (Susie Essman) gives Bolt some eye-opening lessons about being a real dog in the real world, while star-struck, ball-enclosed hamster Rhino (Mark Walton) revels in the opportunity to serve as Bolt's sidekick in the quest to rescue Penny. The trio traverses the United States from waffle house to waffle house on a hysterical quest to find Penny and prove that the relationship between Penny and Bolt is real. In the end, Bolt, Mittens, and Rhino learn that everyone is special in their own way and they discover the true power of believing in oneself and one's friends. Selected cinemas showed Bolt in 3-D, but the film is probably equally enjoyable in the traditional format. The first film I took my daughter to see at the cinema and we both loved it!
My daughter was three years old when I took her to see Bolt at the cinema and it was a really magical experience for both of us. She is now four years old and we have both been looking forward to seeing Bolt on Blu-ray alot and as with all Disney films the Blu-ray transfar is excellent. At the start of the film you think Bolt is some type of terminator dog with all is strength and super powers. Bolt goes on the run looking for a girl called Penny only to find out he doesn't have all these super powers and is part of a really big tv show in Hollywood. It takes Bolt a while to work this out on his very funny adventure where he meets a street wise cat called Mittens and a hilarious hamster called Rhino. John Travolta does great voice acting as Bolt and the voice acting in general is very good. Bolt is a film in which children and adults will really enjoy and should not be missed.

Totally Awesome!
This is sad but true - I am 27 (and female) and think this film is brilliant. The hamster is the star of the show and it's worth a look for adults and children. It's a nice change from all the animated cheese we get and has some great lines that the kids probably won't get. Go for it.

Great fun for little and big kids
this is a great film which my family enjoyed very much, good old fashioned fun, as good as some of pixars better films, great hi def transfer aswell, really shows off the blu ray format in it's best light, the Rhino toy is really good fun too and kept my three year old happy
