Great Value Sony Vaio
Having done a previous review for a Sony vaio laptop I purchased for my daughter, a Sony Vaio NS20EP 15.4 -inch laptop in pink. Which I thought was a great purchase and good value for money
When the house computer a Dell desk top finally gave up the will to continue working after 5 years it was time for a new purchase for myself. Again after a great deal of research both on line and browsing through magazines I was down to a small choice of an Apple and a Sony.
Having seen the Sony at first hand with its ease of use and excellent features such as the screen and keyboard I decided to upgrade to the
Sony VAIO FW41E/H - Core2 Duo T6400 2.00GHz 4Gb 500Gb BD ROM/DVD+-RW/+-R DL/RAM 16.4 inch

Having now used this computer for over two weeks I must say that this is the best purchase I have ever made. The ease of use, the screen the blue ray DVD and all the other features on this lap top are incredible. It has been a while since I have upgraded my computer but I have no regrets over this purchase. I am not a gamer so have not tried this laptop as a gaming machine, but I do use it for digital media and have over 20,000 photos and this is excellent for photographs the fact that it has Photoshop elements 7 already installed is a bonus. I would recommend this laptop to anyone interested in upgrading their current computer it is easy to use has a brilliant key board with a high resolution screen, great for all multi media and handles any programme with ease.

A great value for money purchase

watch out for Windows 7
This laptop is a winner. Great screen, great keyboard.
The graphics card seems pretty quick. I only play online games so they do not need the fastest graphics card.
It does not get any where near as hot as the apples do so you can actually put it on your lap.
My only slight query is that if you buy this from anywhere else then they offer you the free upgrade to Windows 7. I cannot find anything on the Amazon site that says that they will do this as well. There is a slip of paper in with the laptop when you get it saying pre registrer your copy of windows 7, but when you go to the sony website this model is not one of them. I have not yet found out whether I can get an upgrade or if I have made a mistake and now need to pay for an upgrade.

I will report back if I find out that this does come with the free upgrade later on.

You do get teh Windows upgrade through Sony themselves.
Their website is a bit tortuous, but keep looking and you will find the place to pre-register your copy of Windows 7 and then they will notify you when it is available. You will have to pay postage and packing for it.

Top Kit - Spot on
I bought this laptop as a replacement for my old vaio from a few years back. For tyhe money this is a fabulous purchase, i would have happily paid the full price. I received it during the postal strike via the BFPO system. it arrived and i was immediately pleased with the purchase. the first thing you notice is the keyboard, very easy to use and clear and concise, with all the normal Fn buttons. Also new for me was the media buttons, very easy to use and i have set up the s1 button for media centre. a must have for anyone who uses their laptop for music films pictures and more. i have rigged it up to the hd tv via VGA cable and the hdmi cable, both work fine. there are no threads to lock in the VGA cable but this is not really an issue. I have yet to test it for blue ray however having watched a couple of HD clips online i'm sure i will not be disappointed. It is a fast laptop with vast memory. Everything looks clean and tidy and just says sleak and stylish. The speakers on the laptop are great but easily use a surround system via the 3.5mm jack at the front. The webcam is great, very clear and some good software preinstalled for it. This is easily my best purchase of the year.
There are a few updates for vista when you initially go online, but after that its fine.
There is a free upgrade for windows 7, some people may have trouble geting this sorted, its not the easiest system and not quite free, you have to pay for the postage. i will be upgrading to 7 at some point in the near future. I know i am sure to have many happy hours with this laptop.
